I wonder????
« on: May 18, 2010, 09:41:52 AM »
Just got done watching the RV video, max's video etc.  I wonder if the big 4 even think about the fact that almost everyone that rides a 2 stroke, gets off and talks about how much fun they are?  I mean, isn't this sport about fun?  It is just suppose to be about speed etc?  It is sad to me to hear people like RV talking about how fun it's gonna be to ride a 250 2 stroke. It's sad, because it's taking away what our sport is about.  I mean, think about this. What other sport in the world, can you go walk into a race one day as a local fastest guy with  a pro lic and race with the best in the world?  Football, baseball, nascar, indy etc. Just try to walk into the locker room and say, hey, I think I'm gonna play today.  This sport is about grass roots. Atleast it was. Now it's becoming a business.  It's so sad how our world has changed over time. I was thinking about that this morning. How kids could have a play friend who no one see's. Parents will tell the kid to grow up and don't believe in stuff that isn't real.  It's all just so sad if you look at the world and see what good things there are, and sometimes they get ruined by greed, power and money.

It's so true.. everyone that rides/races a two-stroke talks about how much fun it is to ride. Sure the four-strokes have their place in the world, but they would not be at the top of motocross racing if it were not for the displacement handi-cap.

There has been much media hype about the reasons to switch to the four-stroke, the biggest one being emissions... the question I have is, are the four-strokes really any better emissions wise than the two-stroke? One thing is for sure, noise wise the four-strokes have done more damage to this sport than just about anything.

Sure I suppose that as long as you have a handicap that says you can race a machine that's twice the size and it's "easy" to ride fast that it could appeal to many. The thing is that I have heard of more brutal life changing crashes with the four-strokes than any other time I can remember.

Sure there could be many reasons for this. Some say that because they are easy to jump, many novice racers are getting hurt because they will try things on the four-stroke that they would never even consider on the two-stroke unless they had a great deal of experience.

Other folks have mentioned that the bike in many cases drives the rider into the ground (they are heavier than their two-stroke counterparts) causing additional damage to the rider.

Worse yet is that so many people are leaving our sport, in many cases as a direct result of the added expense of a catastrophic failure on a four-stroke. These are the folks that purchase a new machine every couple of years... now many of them have blown four-strokes sitting in their garage, while still making payments on it.

What do you think this person will decide next time he thinks about buying a motorcycle? Well hopefully he will decide to purchase a two-stroke and continue riding/racing. But in some cases we will lose these rider/racers from the sport forever.

When will the powers-that-by actually take a look at what's happening instead of keeping their collective heads buried in the sand. Their short term profits could very well put them out of business. Not a very smart way to run a business.
Life is short.

Smile while you still have teeth!

Another thing that makes me wonder, is if Honda and the other big OEM's like hearing people say.  "I'll never buy a Honda again."  There is one thing for sure, it has drove some people orange and others blue.  I know oems have spent a great deal of money to gain loyalty and customer brand names.  So to drive them away after all that is interesting.

This is most definetly a sad situation to say the least John and miedosoracing. It really seems to me that the BIG OEM's,and we know who they are ,are more worried about their "bottom line" as opposed to what the consumer wants or prefers! It just goes to show us that MONEY is the root of all evil & theirs no two ways about it! I just have to say my next ride will be a KTM 2-stroke of course and I've pretty much given up on anything from Honda,Yamaha "Because what they did to Fred Andrews"and soon even one of my favorite Japanese brands Suzuki!  >:(

You would think with all the unsold 4 strokes in warehouses, that the big 4 would have woken up by now and realised that people can't afford that shit. ???

Someone need's to kick them in the nut's. :'(

I purposely left out KTM because they sell a hell of a lot of 2 strokes. :) , And know they are starting to get a large market share.
They are not stupid.

As Maicoman said in another post, go to a GNCC meeting and see how many orange bikes there are!
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough
