I'd be inclined to put the stock Bing back on as they work well on the big bore Maico's.

OK opfermanmotors, where's the ride report, how does it compare to today's "modern" bikes...  Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm going to try to stick around more often here Coop :)

Before I can ride it I have to fix it up and make the bike mine and just make sure everything's OK.  The bike has a 55T/12T setup and it's still pretty damn fast.  I'm verifying that there's no head leak, seems unlikely, but the coolant level dropped but might just have been air pockets.  The next thing is there is a small hole in the exhaust by the mount I found so will need to fix that but might not have to for a first ride.

Possibly will take it out next weekend if everything checks out.  I've changed all the old stuff and cleaned it up a bit.  I feel a shock rebuild in the future though and probably a topend rebuild in a year, but if I don't have to do it ASAP I'll leave it for a few rides.

I'm sorry, 55/12? Did second gear even exist?

They geared these transmissions crazy high as if the MC bikes are going to do Baja.  This bike is supposed to have a 51T/15T stock which I can't even imagine since it feels that 1st is a second right now.

55/12 is crazy short. 12 on the countershaft and 55 on the rear? Thats madness.

I ordered a 59T rear sprocket in case it's still too fast.

I had to do a 59T/12T to my 2004 500 as well so I should have just gotten it before putting the new chain on.
