High rev, why?

Hey there, new to the forum.  I have an 07 yz250 that I just did a full rebuild on top and bottom end and now when I kick it, it revs quite high, kind of like there is an air leak, but can't find one. I am stumped why it is doing this. This was my first time splitting the cases, but have done too end lots and never had this problem. I don't see it being anything to do with the bottom end I don't think. It would be great if someone would have some insight for me

Check the throttle cable is seated properly in the top of the carby.

x2. check everywhere on the throttle cable, from the cable wheel on your handlebars down to the slide in the carby. If that fails my next suggestion would be an air leak somewhere that might have sneaked past you. Under the motor, maybe. Somewhere that the gaskets haven't sealed properly.

X2. Check your stator side crank seal and cylinder base gasket for leakage to be safe.
