Too much smoke?
« on: May 06, 2013, 04:12:35 AM »
I have a yz125 and its always been smoking a shit ton. I used to run 32:1 but switched to 40:1. I cleaned the air filter and re-oiled. I'll be cleaning the carb this saturday. The compression seems to be low so Im gonna check that out as well. No idea what the hours are on the top end but maybe that could be the problem? It smokes alot at 3/4 to full throttle. A jetting kit could probably help but what do you guys think.

Sounds like your right hand side crank seal is leaking.
Is it using trans oil?

If you don't know the hours on the top end... well I'd start there 1st.  You can adjust the jetting, but the real issue I'll bet is a worn piston and ring.  Its time to refresh the top end.  While you have it apart, you may consider replacing the crank seal as well.
