Bike of the year? Beta 300RR
« on: April 21, 2013, 05:14:06 PM »
Dirt Rider says its the 2013 Beta 300RR!

From American Beta:
We are proud to announce that Dirt Rider magazine has awarded Beta the Bike of the Year honors. They found the 300 RR to be the best bike after extensive testing of many other brands including all of the orange bikes!

Also great news is Cody Webb's excellent 2nd place finish in last week's International X games Enduro Cross held in Brazil. Cody won his qualifier by more than 13 seconds and was leading the main several times until a few tip-overs regulated him to second. Cody's teammate Max Gerston finished a strong third place in his heat and a solid 10th place in the main event. That makes two Betas in the top ten!

There is a dealer in NY always advertising Beta's on the Pittsburgh craigslist. They look like nice bikes but are pricey.

This reaffirms what we've been seeing in off-road racing.  Contrats to BETA and Cody Webb.

The off road racing world has rediscovered the advantages of a two stroke.  Of course they also have corrected the displacement rules..  A 250cc is a 250 regardless of strokes...  There are still plenty of riders who feel a stroker is the way to go.  This is the way it should be...  pick your strokes, as there is no displacement advantage.  Competition is now the and their machine (regardless of strokes) against the course and the other riders.

Now if the world of MX would get off their arses we would see better, tighter racing in the pro ranks.

For those that did not see the race:

check out the "cool line" Webb takes at 2:13 and at 3:20 into the video. Taddy didn't stand a chance.
But the slick conditions made it a challenge for the 2T bike to overcome Taddy's insane talent -
even while being saddled with a four stroke.

I have to say this does not surprise me. Everybody that has ridden my Gas-Gas 300, prefers it to any other bike. Sure, they don't want to spend the money on a Gas Gas, or absolutly need the 4-stroke to be class competitive, or are brand loyal, but everyone is stoked when they get off of it. A 9 year newer Beta has to be that much better!

ADB did a test between the Beta and a Kato 300 a few months ago, with a very close result.
The test concluded KTM still had the motor on it, but everything was a tie.
Excellent first attempt, and they look shit hot..
