yz 250 engine seized, i think
« Reply #15 on: April 10, 2013, 09:46:38 AM »
Also, I've heard of people having siezure issues with the Wiseco crank. Use caution.

??? That defies logic doesn't it ???

Not really, many people have reported having issues with Wiseco cranks.  The quality is not what you'd expect from Wiseco.

But how does a crank cause a seizure?

It would take alot of tiny smashed crank fragments to seize the motor ?

Not sure what the problems with them were just heard of peoples wiseco bottom ends seizing.

The big end bearing on the crank goes and does all kinds of damage.

Update.

ok today i pulled the motor out.

reason why the swing arm and motor bolt wouldnt come out was, silly me forgot to loosen the suspension once i did that she came right out well with some persuasion hhaha.

im gonna make a build thread or whatever, but just rename this so if a moderator wants to move it to the selected category would be appreciated but anyway. ill puts some pics below

That looks nasty.
Make sure you find the reason for the damage before you ride again.

That is the epitome of butt f**ked piston. You said you were doing a bottom end rebuild too right? If not, you'll probably want to end up splitting the cases anyway just to make certain the the crank is unharmed cos it looks like there must have been a fair wad of fragments come out of that piston.

As far as pistons are concerned? Wiseco or wossner, accept no substitute.

fo sho!  deff left that piston in there too long.  check the plating around the ex port.  when the piston is that loose it really wears the plating quickly.  and wiseco rods are the only aftermarket rods i never use.  seen several break

I know it sucks, but look at the bright side, when you're done, you will know that you did the work, and that all is as it should be in your engine.  Keep us informed as to the re-birth of the YZ.
