The U.S. domestic light truck industry is very heavily protected and I think that Ford, GM and Chrysler take advantage of this when they offer only $60,000 6.0+ litre 1000 ftlb torque pickups. This is also partially why Nissan and Toyota manufacture full sized pickups in North America. There are companies in India and Brazil producing inexpensive diesel pickups and companies have tried to import them but the tariffs etc. are too great. Volkswagen also produces a light truck for global markets but I will never see them here.

Try to climb out of it you break something...

Everywhere but in the states do people get badass diesels. Our government and media currently have a vendetta against them(Dirty smoke! lawl). And as weird as it sounds when you work on a farm a large truck as seen above, large diesels make sense. Another aspect is that these 7 liter turbo diesels actually get decent gas mileage. As for the giant lift kits there is nothing positive about them, they effectively make the truck useless. You go mudding you break something, you go off roading you break something, tow something and again you'll most likely break something.

Man when I saw a thread about trucks I was expecting some proper yank tanks (Kenworths etc) not these tonka toys.

Here's what the British call a truck.
