Is anyone here interested in diesel trucks? I myself enjoy looking at lifted diesels and what not. Has anyone heard of "cen-cal" trucks?

I'm a ford nut. Also been in the trenches with the 6.0 diesel.  It's my favorite engine,  just a little misunderstood.  I'm a functional type of guy.  This truck above is a little out there IMHO.  Here's my rig doing what it does best.  http://imgur.com/F1PVFUp   Little bit of lift, little bigger tires only by height and factory rims to not wear out components by poor offset.  She's a angry girl.  170k and she could drive across the world without an issue.

I've got two friends with newer Dodge 4X4's (one diesel/one gas) and both do this strange front axle tramp thing where the whole truck almost shakes itself off the road.

I'm looking, as we speak, for a Ford 7.3 IDI non turbo to run on 50% bio diesel.

The track bar is exceptionally common on the Dodge trucks but you wont see it on a hoist.With the truck on the ground,have someone wiggle the wheel slightly while you look under the front end.The track bar is a long rod that mounts to the frame near the steering box on the drivers side and the axle behind the steering damper on the passenger side.You'll see a little up and down movement  on the drivers side typically.It's ussualy a once a year replacement item.The steering stab is common as well.

IMO Dodge, Gm and Ford all make good trucks... But you won't catch me buying a Dodge!  Just personal reasons

The wheels make it look really crap, I love big V8 diesels. My mate has an F150 with the V8 turbo Navistar (cant remember the size) it's an awesome rig

Ridiculous lift looks like somone is "compensating" to me. Not my cup of tea. Mild lift to get rid of the "low rider" look on long beds/extra cabs is fine.

Strange engines are fun too (read two strokes!)

Why do you guys have such massive motors, what could you possibly need a 7 litre diesel for ? Can't ford make a small/powerful diesel ?
Most Aussie diesels are 2.5-3.0 litre turbo motors........maybe if less time was spent on DI 2t to save the planet and more time reducing the size of those gas guzzlers......

My mate has a new Ford/Mazda Ranger/BT50 with the 3.2L 5 cylinder turbo diesel.
Goes bloody well.
I have the model before with the 3L turbo motor. Still goes pretty well.
Tows my 2.5T boat without a worry.

The 7.3 engine that International build for for for the '90s Ford trucks (including my 01) I believe were designed for larger trucks. These engines are very tough, half million mile units. This is actually my 2nd of these trucks. My first was the older body style '97 extra cab version. Same motor but different tune. Rated at 235 HP and some nutty amount of torque. And a 3.55 rear end. The motor spun about 1500 rpm on the highway. I bought that truck from a guy in Las Vegas. I drove my Prius down to him to pickup the pickup. Rented a car towing dolly for the trip home and towed the Prius from Vegas back to northern CA. During that tow (through some mountain passes) that truck got 21 mpg for the trip. 

My current truck has an updated fuel/turbo map. rated at 260 HP and has a 3.73 rear end. Ford did this -- not me. Same basic motor but with the lower gearing and a crew cab. It swills kerosene at 16 mpg. Not happy about that in comparison to my prior unit. But still a stone reliable motor.

I am a fan of big lazy motors in work horses.
My old landcruiser had the 4.0L 12HT motor in it ( No intercooler  )and had pretty much the same Hp & torque as my newer BT50 with a 3.0L common rail.
The difference was the landy did everything 1000rpm less then the mazda does.
I dove it between 1800-2300rpm everywhere, even when towing.
I miss that lugging engine but don't miss the handling.
The landy was easier on fuel as well.

Everywhere but in the states do people get badass diesels. Our government and media currently have a vendetta against them(Dirty smoke! lawl). And as weird as it sounds when you work on a farm a large truck as seen above, large diesels make sense. Another aspect is that these 7 liter turbo diesels actually get decent gas mileage. As for the giant lift kits there is nothing positive about them, they effectively make the truck useless. You go mudding you break something, you go off roading you break something, tow something and again you'll most likely break something.
