Has anybody heard the recent Husqvarna news?
« on: March 09, 2013, 09:11:33 AM »
Earlier this evening I was on my facebook page & came across an article in Cycle News magazine & Cycle News had a 1 on 1 interview with Stefan Pierer the CEO of KTM & Mr. Pierer stated in the interview that KTM acquired Husqvarna from BMW!?
Mr.Pierer pretty much said that they were able to acquire Husqvarna for a lot less money than BMW paid.He also stated that they were going to sell the existing Husqvarna "street bike" models & concentrate on selling more Supermoto models & eventually get Husqvarna back in motocross racing!
Reading as much as I could see from the article as my vision kind of sucks it seems to me that KTM is out for blood for lack of a better term & the article lead me to believe that it won't be too long before us smoker fans get to see some DI 2-strokes on the dealer floors sooner than some of us think... :)    PS..No pun intended but I trust Mr.Pierers words a heck of a lot more than the people from Maico International... ><img src=" title="Angry" class="smiley"> just saying.

I missed that but I don't like to hear that either! And yes you're more than likely right that 2014 will be the last of Cagiva/Husqvarnas as we know them..1st blue KTM's & next white & red ones... :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">

i personally dont think its a bad thing, BUT it will be sad to see a genuine husqvarana not being produced. Although ktm i think will do good things with it, and to be honest it can only go up from here with ktm at the reigns.

Remember there are still some distinct differences between husaberg and ktm, yes the engines are the same but there are some chassis differences which makes the bikes act quite differently

You've been sad since 1987 :)  Just saying.

I don't get the connection, they never said they were going to acquire Husqvarna and get them back into motocross!
