Around here, most of the Canada Geese overwinter-to the extent they're becoming problematic.
They were protected for a period and people fed them. The town of Bend, OR had to kill off like 400+ geese due to the numbers. Why leave when food is literally handed to you? It was 10 degrees a couple days ago and you could see geese still fly back downtown lmfao.
They've never been protected here and in fact, they keep making the hunting season earlier and longer to help control the numbers.
The geese forage in farmers fields once cut but as all the lakes were froze over and the fields snow covered they had to move along.Recent years, the snow comes and goes and the lakes freeze and thaw. This gives then steady access to food and water. Some years the ice racing boys are lucky to get a couple weekends in a row of safe ice.(They're hitting it today outside halifax as they have various spots around the province and they choose based on which is safest/best at the time)
Bend Oregon may be as you say but I'm about 6000 km away so I don't think it's all that relevant.
As for Gore, your "expert" on the other side, isn't he the American pres. hopeful that wrote the eco books and now just took a big payout from big oil and al jazeera? That's a good one to quote from your side of the fence-lol.
I had to stick my head in the screen to see what a "drop bear" was.
Ewe decide
Too funny.I've had widowmaker limbs whack me on the helmet when cutting but never a drop bear.Ours are blacks and are numerous these days so I think I'll spend more time looking up-lol.
