Intermittent engagement? It could be what's sometimes known as "clutch judder".

One possible cause could be some of the clutch springs having different "free lengths" from each other, one side engaging more or less than the other, over time they have stretched at different rates. And yes as mentioned check the torque used to tighten the bolts, making sure they are in line with specification.
