Clutch cover gaskets
« Reply #15 on: July 28, 2012, 11:22:47 PM »
I actually ended up by taking a piece of the old gasket and cutting a piece that fit around the centering piece to fit the plug. It worked. And don't worry ford, I used an old mirror I had sitting in the garage to flatten it, even though it was already flat. But, I still have a leak ><img src=" title="Angry" class="smiley"> I'm thinking it may be coming from a bolt, I am going to try silicon spraying the bolts or something. I'm at a bit of a loss right now...

1 way to machine/file them flat is to use a large flat piece of glass with some 400 grit wet & dry sand paper on it.
I use a 20mm thick piece of glass which is flat and spray the sand paper with crc/wd40.
Hold the clutch cover down and move in a circular motion untill high spots are gone.

My advice with regards to this method.Never, ever tape a sheet of sandpaper  the  living room window  of your new house to resurface your RZ head while slurping Captain Morgan's finest and cranking GNR on the stereo loud enough that you don't hear your wife come home.

Well I cleaned the bottom of my engine to get a better idea of exactly where the leak was, but I took off so much oil soaked dirt that I haven't noticed a leak yet  :D I'm probably going to let it sit over night and see if I can see any leak. Hopefully not  8)

Ha Ha , Women are funny like that. :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">
Reminds me of a time a friend and I were making 45Kg of boerewors sausages at his place.
25Kg beef/15Kg pork & 5Kg pork rind.
We had the sounds cranked the beer flowing and the mincer going hard.
Just before we finished with the kitchen looking like a slaughter house in walks his ( who was supposed to be away for the day ) Vegetarian wife. >:-D
Least to say I stayed clear for awhile. ;)

Can't say I blame you, staying in the same room would have been like sitting at ground zero when a bomb goes off  ;D

Lol,Women are an odd creature at times.Being a vegan, she likely wanted some of that but just didn't want to admit it. :D
Of course, had it been my buddy I would have mentioned to him that he was fortunate his wife preferred a little carrot stick to a big sausage-but that's just me. ;)
