There are rumours of EFI kits being developed for off road 2T applications but DI is much more complicated and may not be "retro-fitable".

If DI kits were avaialble, you would know about it.

even for a standard EFI kit, it would be a custom one off set up requiring it to be designed, installed and dyno tuned. setting you back a few thousand dollars.

if you were knowledgable in fuel injection, bought cheeap parts, did all the work  yourself and got a decent deal for using a Dyno you could maybe do it for $1500 but will alot of stuffing about.

You can even fab yourself one using a throttle body from a street bike. Several people have done it, will it set you back thousands? No, but it will be hard to do so. Every build that I've seen someone do it has had some success, its just time consuming and you have to know what you're doing.

I'm not selling the kits anymore.
There is a MPG gain and somewhat of a performance gain for the street. I say that because you can use bigger throttle bodies for EFI than you can for carbs. The EFI is less sensitive about air speed. There would be no performance gains for track use when bigger carbs are the name of the game anyway.

With a lot of time and patience, you can nail the A/F map and take out any bog, stumble, or cough that the carbs may have possessed.

Now, that being said, you do have to contend with a fuel pump, a battery, WBO2 sensors, an ECU, and the power requirements for all of the above. It can become a bit of a hassle. Especially if your battery goes dead! No smoke when the battery is dead. No amount of kicking or pushing is going to get you going. My point is that there is nothing wrong with a good set of carbs.

I bought a set of 28mm PWKs that may make it onto my 350. It seems that my battery is dead and I can't ride it. Yet my 500, which is not fuel injected and also has a dead battery, I can just kick and rip.

DI is not something that is retrofit, but EFI is. I would check out the Ecotrons kit. I talked to him once before. For my big bore it is $600 and likely needs some work to mount. It should be around $500 for a 250. I originally considered it mainly for 380s having jetting problems and altitude changes. But that money was more worth it in suspension imho. It would be pretty sweet if you have the money.
