Time to update the RM
« Reply #15 on: April 12, 2012, 01:33:33 PM »
I might go down there for some riding later this year.  I am 12 hours exactly, North on 95 in VA.  Maybe I'll take a long holiday, find a GF, make her come with me, and hit hardrock for a long weekend.  I like the "GP" track too.  Not a big fan of the other little 2 tracks. (the sand and the outback)

I used to hit the water tower to double, (i think it's faster) but my friend Jaco (south african guy) used to hit it wicked on a 450 to triple, he'd catch that small hump down the backside.  just ridiculous.  You can hear that 450 from across the property 30 acres away... BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (someones hitting the water tower)

For those of you who has never been to hardrock FL, the jumps are massive, and the dirt is like cement, it blue grooves, so if you fall, it's a collarbone usually at a minimum.

I found a picture of a 2005 rm250 on the net somewhere that the guy had the plates cut . They looked made that way so I just followed his lead and tried my best to duplicate how much to cut off and the correct angle.

The backgrounds are the correct ones for the bike . I just got lucky and they turned out great .  I 'm pulling the motor out tomorrow night to have the crank  assembly replaced . I should have known after putting money into cosmetics would lead to a mechanical failure  :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley"> :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">

what would be real cool is if clarke made some sort of moto-specific smaller gas tank, that was smaller than that one in the sparkplug area, but was still enough for a 20-30 minute moto.  The tanks these days are only about 1.7-1.9 gallons and they do fine.  I think it would look REALLY good on those suzukis, and changing plugs and jetting changes would be soooo much easier.

Yeah plug changes are stupid hard on this bike . I'm glad I squared away the jetting and havnt had to touch the spark plug since . Well that and the fact the sparkplug costs $30

it's probably an NGK with an "ix" at the end of the number, which is iridium.  it'll run fine with its copper brother, which will have the same number, minus the "ix", and cost 6 bucks.

or, you can cross reference the iridium plug's part number at an auto parts store, where it's usually significantly cheaper than a bike shop.

The side plates look great, I like the stock fender. The RM looks good stock, with a pipe and silencer, porting, carb borre  it,s still a very competive bike. There was about 7 RM 125,s in 125 jr pro am race sunday, one was all stock-pipe and silencer included it looked quite a bit slower than the other RM,s.

The slow one was probably the 125.  The rest were 134s.

Shit  mines not slow  ;D     . I ran a br8EIX and that plug seemed to work great but it was only $10 . The plug my bike takes is a funky 15 digit part number and the cheapest ive found one is $30 on ebay . My local suzuki shop wants $50 :o :o
