I think 4 stroke dirtbikes are a phase, kind of like "Glam Rock" in a way. You see the whole world subscribing to it, and you wonder how everyone could be choking down so much Kool Aid and Spam... Then 10 Years later, nothing's left but the timeless stuff from before and after..

might have to ask around regarding that mod.

I wouldnt mind installing it on my PWK 39/41.5 oval bore.

but Id been keen to see whether the supercharger effect is just the larger carb, and whether the same fueling can be acheived through the powerjet.

but I like the idea of being able to adjust the mixture on the fly... extend that adjust up to the handlebars, would be really good then!

I re-read the article on it.

It sounds more like a paid advertisement than a real test/review.

supercharger :P

It sounds to me more like a lazy mans power jet.

That as well, but we have to remember that even with the 250sx running a 36mm carb its still pulling 50hp stock. With pipe 54-57hp? Jesus. Why touch it?

You wont get an extra 4-7Hp from just a pipe.
Besides, dont you think the stock pipe might be pretty good anyway.

+1

with a custom made big belly pipe and a 39mm carb you'd be lucky to get that.
remember, that 57rwhp is approaching super kart territory, theres alot more work than a pipe and a carb on those monsters.

It's just a powerjet. Problem is high rpm causes a over rich condition killing the over rev, hence why the solenoid controlled power jet was in vented.

Could have sworn there was a quote from MXA stating those figures with a PC (Pro Circuit) pipe..

and after reading an article by the same magazine where they describe a modification like this as "supercharging", you still believe their claims about the pro-circuit pipe?

My problem with the article is that there constantly checking every mod there is with a four stroke and then dynoing it. Well if this intellijet mod and bored carb was so fantastic you would think there would have been a Dyno test to back up results. If I was the Mfg of it and it worked as advertised I would have even paid for the Dyno.

You could just borre the stock carb too for just 80 bucks. The 38mm carb on my 125 is borred out to 40mm, you wouldn,t believe how much more fuel it burns.

Super Trucker, I'm curious...  does the bigger carb give more top end, at the expense of less bottom end? Example your 125...  with the carb borred to 40mm, does it have more top end / over rev, and reduces what low end it had?

I had the porting and carb borred at the same time, on the 04 cr125. The bottom end was dead, stock and ported.JM racing engines are ported to have a very strong and wide midrange that goes to 1,500 rpm below the top rpm. The way the engine was built, it hits alot harder then has a strong pull to the top, just revs with no pull the last 1,500 rpms. I hope that makes sense. I would like to try the 40mm carb on the stock 06, that should  soften the bottom end, then pull harder in the midrange with a bit more topend. I put bigger carbs on other 125,s before, the bottom end is less, stronger midrange with a little more topend.
