2000 cr 250 vs. 2003 cr 250?
« on: September 25, 2011, 08:33:47 PM »
Just a quick question guys, is there much difference between a 2000 and a 2003 cr 250? Probably gonna buy one of the two just not really sure which one and their around the same price so thats not really the issue. Just wondering if there is anything noticeably better on one year?

2000/2001 =better engine

2003 = better looking bike and better handling due to 3rd gen frame.

Two completely different powerplants - 2001 pistonport reed with a mechanical/centrifugal powervalve and 2003 casereed induction with an electronic servo motor controlled powervalve. The 2002 and newer case reeds were abandoned by Honda before they were properly developed.

why honda could not succeed using the case reed like ktm/tm could i dont know,     but apparently the cylinder got some refinement in 05,

By then Honda had no one left in the 2 stroke department. They were all making door handles for Civic's. ;)
