British Supercross.
« on: January 31, 2010, 02:47:40 AM »
Just to let you all know that the final round of the British Supercross series was held last night at the O2 arena in London and at the end of the four round series Ulsterman Gordon Crockard is the winner of the Open Class title for British riders and finished second overall in the Open Class for international riders on the 250 2-stroke hybrid Kawasaki. In this class in the first round he finished second overall to Mike Brown and last night in this class he finished second overall to American Heath Voss but relatively low scores in both rounds two and three (due to being "taken out" in both cases!) prevented him from taking the international title as well.

Strangely enough, since Gordons success in the first round press coverage of these events has been unusually low key, possibly co-incidence but somehow I doubt it. Just wanted to let you all know that the competitiveness shown by the 2010 KXF framed but 2-stroke engined bike that was shown at the first round was NOT a fluke and also bear in mind that he was competing in the open class against some of the best 450's out there and on a totally private effort.

Shame on the Japanese factories yet again for not producing such a bike themselves and forcing us all to accept these inherently inferior 4-stroke abominations whether we want them or not

Great write up about the British Supercross....

Yes lately the major media has tried to avoid mentioning the fact that two-strokes can be competitive against even the bigger bikes.

The only way to overcome this situation is for us to write these stories ourselves and post them on the site. Take a few pictures and write a little about the event.. include results and we will publish these stories on this site.

We need to step up and get this information out there for all of the two-stroke fans. But even more important this information needs to be available for the casual fan. The battles between the two-stroke and four-stroke can be very exciting and can and will make for better exposure for two-strokes.

Anyone up for writing up a brief report about the races that two-strokes compete? If so, please PM.

Thank you!
John

Gordon left for Spain after Saturday nights event, he's running a motocross school out there for a number of weeks.

As regards the issue of getting someone to comment on this venture, well that might be another matter. Paul Bird, who I think it's fair to assume was the driving force behind this, also runs the Kawasaki WSB team so while he's a man well known for speaking his mind there is big business at stake as well.

Ricky Watt was also involved and while I know that Ricky's father is a true old school two stroke man, they are still the sole Kawasaki off-road dealer for Northern Ireland and sell a helluva lot of bikes every year so I'm not just sure where they stand. Whatever way, it shows yet again the stranglehold that the Japanese have on the entire motorcycle industry and it is not a healthy situation.

Hybrids 2 stroke racing at pro level, just funny to see how blind the manufacturers are. LOL
Formula over substance will ALWAYS sell more.
