new to twostrokemotocross
« on: April 26, 2011, 03:54:42 AM »
Figured i'd do a intro here. I've been riding two stroke for a while and some 4 strokes. Started on quads  14 years ago on a blaster, then 250x then started racing mx on a 89 quadracer. Had that bike for a few years and hated the 4 strokes when they started coming out. I joined the Air force 3 years ago after college didn't work out and got back into riding. This time with dirtbikes. Picked up a 03 yz250 for 1200 bucks and turned around and sold it for 1500 to try and get a 02 ktm 250sx. But I was surfin craigslist the day i was going to look at the ktm and ended up finding a 06 yzf450 for 2000 and I offered him 1700 for it. I rode that bike for a month or so and put in on craigslist for trade for a ktm or yz250 and a 52 year old guy wanted to trade his 08 ktm 250sx! Score. So Now i'm riding a 250sx that i have 1400 bucks into! Well alittle more now since I put a fmf pipe and silencer and new tires. Didn't need tires but didn't like the tires on it. They are more for hard packed and the track around me was soft sand. Well here are a few pics. Bike looked better when i got it but I gotta get some backgrounds ASAP. But i'm deployed right now so thats gonna have to wait til i get back

I like to deal, that for sure. That yz125 behind my bike I pretty much got for a ps3. I traded the ps3 for a klx110 with a 144 kit. then traded that for a 07xt225 that need a wiring harness. Got that running then traded that for a 01kx250. Then traded that for the 02 tz125 for my wife. She didn't do so great on it. To slow so i ended up selling that to a friend for 1200 and getting a 400ex for her.

Welcome to the site!!
If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.

thanks guys. I just put on new michelin ms3 front and back. hooks up great now. I went and found a nice used FMF factory fatty and titanium II silencer for 250 and now thats on it also. Didn't have to make any jet changes. No sponge at all. Now its time to get the forks done and do a top end. Looking into vortex piston and oem gaskets and maybe factory connection on the forks and shock. FC already did the shock for the previous owner and I think they will redo them for free and all i have to do is pay parts. It has a progressive rear spring and some rebound housing thing. Its set up for 175lb guy but seems to handle great for me. I'm at 185 but I want to revalve for mx/trail and take some harshness out. My buddy has FC revalving done on his bike and its really plush.
Last time I was at the track I had a nice battle with a pretty good C rider. He told me he's been racing for a while and then i told him I started in August. He couldn't believe it. But it wasn't to hard to move from a quad to bike. Just had to learn how to corner. Seat position and front break help alot!
