04 RM 125 carby help
« on: March 15, 2011, 09:16:02 PM »
i was changing the jetting in the wifes bike and managed to strip the thread  on the brass screw that the main jet screws into. i have talked to a mechanic and he has rung around and that part is not made for separate sale so basically if i cant find one i am up for a new carby.

none of the wreckers i have talked to are very helpful and just want to sell me a different carby that will fit it that they have in stock.

i am hoping someone on here would either have a carby lying around or would know where i could get my hands on one. i will add a pic later on just to clarify what i want.

any help would be appreciated and i would be happy to pay for any assistance that saves me buying a new carby.

the carby is a Mikuni TMX 38S

Check ebay. Good luck
If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.

got home from work yesterday, grabbed my 8mm socket and drove that thing in there. seems to be working now. because the thread of the screw is soft and the thread in the carby is hard i figured it would just cut a new thread which it kinda has. i figured if i was going to have to get a new carby anyway i might as well give it a go and if i wrecked it then at least i tried.

i can still undo the main jet. just use a 6mm socket, should never have to take the brass screw out again. fingers crossed
