New guy here
« on: March 03, 2011, 05:16:27 PM »
First I would like to say that this is an amazing website/forum :) I finally decided to join after looking for a few weeks. I am new to the two stroke community but not new to motocross, I am just now coming off a 2 year break i took to recover over some injuries and for college. Now I am in my last year in college and I decided to buy another mx bike and before i quit i rode a 08 kawasaki kx250f, but I didnt want another 4 stroke again main reason being the maintenance cost, so I bought a 06 kx250 and I LOVE IT!! i should have made the switch a long time ago :) I have included a picture of my bike with a few things i have added.

Welcome to the site, I must commend you on your bike choice :D, I own an 07 and based my decision to buy it on my buddies 06.
The only difference between the two are the size of the squish band (head dome volume) kawasaki gave the 07 head just a little more volume to try to tame the beast
here are a couple of recommendations for your bike to smooth out that violent mid range hit and improve power over the whole range
install the optional, lower compression base gasket
Vforce 3 reed block
9 or 11 oz flywheel weight
and depending on where you are, lean out the pilot jet one size from stock
one tooth bigger rear sprocket
those four things alone will give your motor an electric smooth power curve

I have also added a FMF gnarly pipe and Turbine core2 silencer, but I ride woods
The Fatty in conjunction with the powerccore2 is a great pipe for moto
If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.

I love having a turbinecoreII on my 125 for racing. Provides more low end grunt (or should I say, it gives the bike a little lower end grunt.. because it stock it has virtually none)

So the turbinecore 2 is actually good for mx? If that's the case I have a brand new one I can put on :)

Welcome

Congrats on picking up your KX, reminds me of my cousins kx100 when I was a kid, all I remember is loudness and green as I'm sure your bike is! 8)

Sounds like in the US you guys are really sick of the four stroke costs, don't blame you.
