This year I experimented with one of my bikes and I installed a chainguard to deflect debris away from the chain. I know it sounds old fashioned but on that bike chain/sprocket wear has been virtually zero.

I don't have an opinion on which brand is best, I tend to change them pretty frequently.
I ride Scrambles/Mud/Rough Terrain so they tend to wear quicker than usual.
I just uses D.I.D Non O-ring and replace chain/sprockets 3 or so times a year.

To date I've had the best luck with DID.The Xring is good for woods but I use their better non o ring.
I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

I've tried the RK's and DID's but i reckon the regina non o ring that came stock on my TM's the best i've tried.
I'm keen to try a Krause sidewinder chain, anyone tried one of them before?

I had a Krause Sidewinder on my Husky 360, lasted as long as I had the bike with no issue's, plan on getting one with their sprockets for the YZ when I need a new one.
aaahhhhh yes, I remember the good old days

I've been using the Moose x ring gold chain with their aluminum sprockets. minimal stretching, think I adjusted it four times once, after break in, and the rest due to sprocket wear, got at least 100 hours outta the last set. the chain still looks new, so I held onto it for a back up.
If a pair of 2" brass balls isn't working, I doubt that the 3" model will make much difference.

I've been having really good luck running Pro Taper X-ring chains on my bikes.  I haven't had to replace any of them yet . . and the stretching has been very minimal.

Was reading this thread the other day and thought i would check my chain as it is standing up very well.
Well it's a umm........ EK 520RXOSM ROAD RACING Chain. :-X
It was on the bike when i bought it and have done about 50Hrs of pretty hard riding with lots of mud.
The sprokets are worn out so am replacing those.Don't know how long they have been on.
Reckon I'll get another 50 on the chain.
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough

I use Regina chains a lot of the time, non-oring and they fine.

ProTaper non-oring chain.  Hands down, the best chain I've used in all my days, and I'm damn old!

The Moose chains are made by Regina , but much cheaper price. I used Regina chains and there pretty durable.
