AWESOME !! If it were me, and had the cash, definitely go the 150. Rave reviews about the Kato's and the TM's. Both would be amazing race weapons !! If budget was a bit tighter any late model 125 would be good, but you will crave more power after a little while.
Two Stroke - A Revolution or Extinction ??

You DECIDE !!

If your coming off of a 450, I would suggest a 250 2t. While 125's are fun, just like swapper said you will bit itching for some more power. Late model KTM 250sx's are whats up, they are awesome. If you are firm on sticking to a 125 or 150, definitely go for the 150.

I recommend a 700MMX.  Because you're coming off a bike that specializes in low-end, see, I think you'd particularly enjoy having enough torque to drag the Rocky Mountains into the Southern Hemisphere.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

150 period. You could beat every bike out there on the 150. Well, of course the RM250 would be a close second. KTM, TM, and Maico would be there too if they were a little cheaper.

What ever floats your boat.
Only you know what sort of riding you do.
Big drop in power going to a 125 but a big drop in weight as well. ;D
Alot of fun small bores.
If you don't fall off you are not going hard enough

At a 130lbs that 450 must have been a handful.I'd take advantage of your light weight and ride a 150,you'd have a combo. that would be hard to beat.

actually i rode the 125 for almost 9 years before i got the 450

and now, thinking to switch back to the smoker

was thinking about the 250 smoker, but never had a chance to test ride it.

i guess the 250 smoker explosive power would be a tad harder to ride than the smoother 450 power.

what do ya reckon?

I think the best thing to do is finagle your way into actually testing a strong-running 250 and see how you like it.  It's all up to you to ultimately decide what you want to get, and unless you're out to lay down the law upon the world championship title, I'd say that fun-factor is going to be the greatest of all factors in your decision, even though it's the one that we really can't say anything about.  So my recommendation is to get your hands dirty and look for something that really makes you think, "Damn, I wish I didn't have to give this back!"  If I was your weight (if only) and was looking to have some fun on the track, I would probably get a 150 for the reason Sachs said - it'd be a good compromise between power and controllability (weight).

another option is a ktm 200xc.  i wish they still made the 200sx, that was the ultimate fun/mx racer.
the 200xc has the close ratio tranny of a mx'er, valving is close, maybe perfect for your weight.  it's a good blend of low end torque and hi revver.
I heard they arent making them for 2011?

Rookie, if you do decide on a 150sx. DO NOT get the 08 model, I have seen many bad reviews on the engine blowing up way to often due to the cylinder ports being to big. This was solved in the 09 version so if you get a 150sx get an 09 or newer.

Correct, they are the same engine size though, not sure why they changed it to 150sx considering its still 144cc's but either way yes the 07 and 08s were called 144sx.
