I have a 2001 KX 250, and from 1999 - 2002, they were nearly identical bikes, The engine is pretty much the same from 1992 - 2001/02, the 02 motor has some differences (not exactly sure what they are), in 99-02 the frame has some different angles so the exhaust has some different bends than later models and the plastics were a little diff too. One of my ridin buddies had a 98 KX 250 and it was not very diff from my 01, it was set up for trails so the suspension was more plush and forgiving, but the power delivery was the same, it had a good strong hit that pulled hard to the midrange and kind of tapered off kind of quick at the top of the powerband. 8)

Buy the KX.If I remember correctly,it was bike of the year in most mags that year.
I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

I will try to, but some expenses popped up, and I don't think I can afford it now. God it sucks being broke at 19.

I was just going to post pretty much the exact same thing. It is never fun to be broke, regardless of age  :) .

Injuries are way worse then being broke. My father used to say "There's more then one way to skin a cat" and this is true for lousy finances but being hurt is a whole different matter.

By the way, my father meant that in a figurative sense for you nature lovers, he didn't mean to actually like grab the people next door's cat and skin the poor little guy!

This is true, I had two friends have serious injuries this summer in races. One guy broke like 7 vertebrate in his neck. Another one broke 10 ribs, collapsed lung, broken collarbone and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Being injured also means being broke, hospital bills cost a lot. Both my friends also found out that getting lifewatched in a plane is extremely expensive also. Moral of the story, WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR, Gear=$600 Injuries-$6,000+
