Angry people on facebook
« on: October 13, 2010, 02:49:01 PM »
Racex posted their yzf450 2011 video on fb, and I commented that the best part was hearing the yz250 in the background a couple of times, and also twostrokemotocross.com.
A little later a couple of dudes posted some angry comments that i couldnt help but feel was directed at me as they were after my comments.

Whats up with the hate guys?
I never crash -I just make unexpected decelerations

I only saw one person tell you to shut up :)  at least on the comment of that video itself.

I say don't ignore them.  I say look at what they have to say, and comb over it for anything intelligent that might over-turn your own position.  Chances are, you'll find nothing of the sort.  At that point, go ahead and ignore them.  This is a minor point, but I'd just like to make sure that we all stay open-minded and actually consider what people have to say, instead of just dismissing it out-of-hand.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.

The problem is how do you respond to someone who just says "Shut Up"?  Do you just ignore it and hence you shut up?  Or do you respond with what? No? Ah, the dilemma...

Yeah, that's a tough one.  Almost as bad as when someone calls you a contrarian.  If you disagree, then you'll have proven their point.  If you don't disagree, they'll be right by default!

Welcome to internet forums. People spout off just to spout off. In all honesty 4-strokers are mad anyway since they are usually the people who are buying just to stay up with the Jones's. They view 2-strokers as rebels who just can't give in to the latest fad, and who won't play by the "in-club's" rules.

Ignore their cry to "shut up" but feel free to respond only to people who treat you with respect. The biggest problem with the folks that say stuff like that is they want to get a rise out of someone... so they can show that they are in some way "superior".

Besides anything you say directly to the person saying to shut up will only make you look bad.

Ya, that's what I find, you definately don't want to show anyone that they got a rise out of you.  You also don't want to respond to stupid comments and you don't want to argue on the internet.  I've found that you have two choices:

1. Ignore and don't respond.
2. Respond in a way that is witty, with some humor that turns the tables.  i.e. makes you look good, they didn't get a rise and makes them look more the fool.

#2 is a hard one to accomplish, but if you can manage it "have at it hoss".  I've found that's actually a good one to respond sometimes.

If someone is saying "You suck, I can jump 400 feet with my bike and it's only an 80".  You can always just reply "have at it hoss.".   Another good one I like is "Video or it didn't happen".  That's  a good one for youtube replies.  People say they did this or that, well, just say "Video or it didn't happen" and then don't respond.  Because half of the people on youtube never have videos :)

You never want to have a response though on the internet that makes you look childish though because it will live forever in cyberspace :)  So if you don't have a mature response, probably best not to respond :)
