Prepping for the Dunes!
« on: September 14, 2010, 04:20:43 PM »
I am looking for a little insight on prepping my KX250 for the dunes.
Gearing, air filter service and possibly replacement, tire pressure, flag mount type and placement, jetting/fuel mixture, etc...
Just a little guidance to make the most of my trip. The Dunes I will be riding are outside of Florence,OR, so it is a little salty and sometimes quite humid!
Thanks,

Paddle Tire
Remove Mud guard, Replace with shock cover.
Gearing - I like stock, some guys gear down, some gear up. try stock and form your own opinion. I keep a worn out chain and sprockets to put on just for dunes.
Air filter cover (Nylon Mesh)
If You are jetted lean, Fatten her up a bit.
Whip, flag thing.

Stay off the front brake at low speeds.
Lean back more than usual (to shift weight to rear of bike).
grip the tank with your knees more than you normally would.

Clean Your bike very well after, check all seals and bearings for excessive wear (Sand is hard on bikes).

Have fun :D
