Yeah they aren't race bikes, they are trail bikes. So they won't have the hit that MX bikes have. That's what causes traction loss on the technical trails.

But I have pretty much decided to pass and just wait until February when I have the money and get something better suited for how I ride. It will be a 2T for sure. I would enjoy the projects if I would have a bike to ride while I played with those. But after talking with him some it doesn't sound like this guy knows a lot about periodic two stroke maintenance and I am afraid the running bike is time bomb waiting to go off. Then I would 3 projects and no rider LOL.

Why dont you get an engineering firm to make you up a flywheel weight ?
Its not hard to do.
Then your bike will be good for another 12 months. ;D

PS The kdx's are popular here for trials.
Most owners are of the older variety  :)

Really? They would use a heavy KDX for Trials competition in NZ?

Not competition .
Just fun trail riding.
I think for "trial" riding I would recomend a TT600 Tenere. :o

It's all about timing the market. If you were to buy the KTM200 in January, and sell all three (running) KDX200s in May, in my area you would just about break even.

TT600 for Trials riding? There must be some pretty big boys downunder!

I went and looked at the bikes and they were REALLY beat. I said thanks but no thanks. My bike might be old, but it is pretty clean and well taken care of. The one the guy was calling a runner I don't know if you could pay me to ride  :) .
