what does Maxima Castor 927 smell like?

To me it has a sweet smell, it's hard to explain. It's like trying to explain what water tastes like. I'm not talking about any particular brand but castor based oils in general.

I'm running Maxima K2 in the new YZ250 So far so good, I have not torn it down yet (only got abouit 8 hours on it). It appears to burn pretty clean. I'll go over it with micrometers an a dial bore gage after 20 hours and let you know what I think.

Really, just buy a bottle and try it out!! I'm one of those silly folks that sticks the old pre-mix in the lawn equipment. Nothing like that smell when you are mowing the lawn!!

927 smells so good, especially with race gas too.

But it doesnt burn as clean as other oils, it will gum up your powervalves quicker at least for me it does, I just use it mostly to sniff it, LOL

Hey John,
I'm with you on the race pre mix in the mower. It makes mowing the lawn worthwhile.

As a side note, you guys running castor based oils, how do find using it. Do you drain fuel tanks and carb bowls as recommended when using a castor oil And only mix minimum fuel, enough for the riding that you are doing ??

I use 927 and 101 octane race gas,mixed 5 gals at a time...i just shake the can before i use any and pump the forks on the bike a few times when i get on it.....have never drained the tank or floatbowl unless its going to sit for awhile and i will drain the floatbowl then but i  have never had an issue with it over the years

What does caster smell like? It's a formidable scent... It stings the nostrils. In a good way.
