My last time at the track / riding area, i was surprised to see sooooo many smokers. I was talking to a few guys, and they said if it wasn't for the two stroke, they could not afford to ride. Out of the four guys 3 had dumped their thumpers, while the 4th guy, this was his 1st bike. The 4 joke had broken their bank accounts. The lone guy on the thumper just couldn't get the hang of the 2 stroke power curve so he bought a thumper. One guy was proud so of his 2004 RM 250 which he "picked up for a song". It was a basket case. The PO had tore it down to refresh the top end, and noticed play in the crank bearings. He started to split the cases, but stopped and set the bike aside. The new owner said he was able to rebuild the entire bike, for next to nothing. As he said "working on a two stroke is just so easy." I was able to referb the entire bike in my garage with nothing more than basic hand tools.
