It is everything to do with the government.
The National Broadband Network was originally designed to bring ADSL2 to people like us that aren't serviced by standard ADSL lines because we live out in the boonies. However, when the government privatized Telstra, they gave them the ability to say: By building this network yourselves, you infringe on our rights as a corporation. So a "compromise" was reached in that Telstra took care of the installation. By reaching this, "Compromise", it enabled Telstra to place the network where it suited them best. In this case, it is the rich dicks in expensive suburbs in sydney that are getting fantastic fibre optic speeds when the original NBN initiative was to bring internet to people like us, that can only be serviced by a 60 dollar a month wireless connection that gives us 7.2 mbps theoretical speed and 7 gigs a month.
So yeah, it is the governments fault.
