Dear MXA,
When was the last time a two-stroke won an AMA National?

The last two-stroke win was by James Stewart on September 5, 2004. He won Steel City on a KX125, but switched to a KX250F for the next and final race of the 2004 125 Nationals at Glen Helen.

In the 250 Nationals, the last two-stroke win was by Ricky Carmichael in 2003. RC won nine Nationals on a Honda CR250-his last coming on August 31, 2003 (he could have won a week later also, but the Troy National was canceled due to a flood).

Interesting, after research, can't find if any motos were won. But the interesting thing, is that it all fell into a certain time period, when RC was hurt, changing teams etc.  Thus, he did race the RM250 in supercrosses, but not in outdoors.  He lost 2 motos, but I don't remember who too and what bike they were on. HHmmm, the timing was bad too for the 2 stroke.

If someone asked me I would be like, Uhhhhhmmmmmm I don't remember. I don't remember because of the stupid AMA rule change and the 4 stroke. It feels like it was years ago since a 2 stroke won. :(

It has been years since a two stroke won in National Motocross competition, as of 2010 it has been 6 years!!

It's time to turn the tables and return sanity to Pro Racing!!
Life is short.
