A bunch of awesome two-stroke racer photos....

Unfortunately they are not all "Factory" Race bikes... although they are all nice looking.

Imagine my surprise when I realized I had taken two of the photos in your little album!! Thanks!!

To see some wondeful photos of the works bikes of the early days of mx, please check out Terry Goode's web site. But be forewarned, you may be searching through that site for hours!

I like the #17 rm, alum. frame kx, Lammys cr125, Yz,s all look alike. Mitch Payten fought the ama the most of anyone,in 04 the ama passed the unleaded fuel rule and that was the biggest killer of the 125,s. Mitch knew the 125,s would be no match for the 250f,s, running on unleaded fuel,at the pro level. A couple 125,s tried supercross in 04, when the nationals kicked off there was 1 guy on a 125 and he was crying, that he wanted a 250f.

Mitch just needs to go back to 2T tuning school, EVERY GP125 has been running ULP since the mid 90's.  Everyone ended up with more HP with unleaded fuel, that was from using leaded jungle juice brews over 120 octane that allowed 19:1 compression.
All of those bikes just had a collection of tricky suspension and some aftermarket parts. Nothing truly handmade or 'remade from unobtainium'. Yellow tyres look disgraceful.

I guess all the factorys in the USA,have to go back to 2-st tuning then, because when the ama went to unleaded fuel in 04.When the nationals kicked off there wasn,t 1 factory 125 on the gate. I know un leaded fuel was used in the 90,s in Europe, all the American riders on 125,s at the des nations said there unleaded 125,s where way down on power-torque, didn,t pull anywhere near as hard as there national engines. A unleaded 125 GP engine can make great peak hp #,s,but a American leaded fuel engine would, kill it on a national track easily and always have.
