How to get rid of hardened stickers on swingarm & frame?
« on: June 02, 2012, 10:20:55 PM »
Hi all,

Just found a great deal on a '02 KX250 with a bunch of improvements (race tech suspenders, v-tech intake, PC pipe, 304 silencer, ect).   Has a new cylinder, and a spare cylinder in good shape.

The bad news is that the previous owner stickered the thing up.  There are stickies on the frame and swingarm.  I can replace the plastic which is also plastered with the things.

I can't even get a fingernail under the stickers.  How do I begin to remove them?

Razor blade in a razor blade scraper.Auto parts places or hardware stores carry them.

I'd rather a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Heat gun/hair dryer to peal the stickers. Then WD40 and a shop rag to remove any left over glue.
Finish with Honda polish.

Heat gun and a razor blade. Then to get the left over glue stuff off, they sell this stuff called goof off, it works great (and it starts fires nicely too  ;D )

Acetone will often loosen the stickers.

My graphics dude said to use goof-off. Can be had at wallyworld or lowes/home depot. Stinks. Do it outside. Let it soften up a while then off you go.

Bead blaster. Prefer glass beads. Preps the metal for painting, coating or polishing too.
