I just switched from a 9 to an 8... Can that burn a 'hole' in the top of my piston?

Thankyou everyone for your help and information fantastic i know it is only a small thing but guys thankyou.

My engine is right now out of the bike and i am freshening it up putting in new bearings etc and thetop end of the engine is going to eric gorr soon to turn it into a 300cc I will split the cases and replace all bearings etc so i will post photos when all finished.

I dont know if i should go crazy and make it look like project 144 or save up for a new berg 300 I'll have to speak to the minister of war and finance on that one. ha ha married men know what I mean.

I've never had any problems with the 8. Do you know what the yamaha oem plug is?

I would think it would do that 'only' if hot enough to cause detonation.

Even with all the racket a two-stroke makes, you should be able to hear detonation.  I certainly do on my bike..

Basically, if the bike is running good, and the plug is not burned white,.. its my opinion you're likely good :)

I know how it is to change spark plugs often, I have to change mine every few races. I did want to let everyone know I see alot of prices being thrown around about this plug.

With your TSM discount the BR8EG plug will be $4.75 each. The BR8EIX would be $9.00 each. Shipping will still only be $6.95 unless the total order goes over $99, then it will be free shipping.

I hope this helps you out until you can get to the bottom of the problem.

My YZ250 is the most finicky bike I have ever had regarding spark plugs.  My jetting isn't perfect, but it's close.  I can only run a BR8EGV, if I go to the cheaper BR8ES is blubbers badly.  I tried the super expesive Iridium, and it cuts out at WOT.
