Ok, I'm not selling anything here, just thought it would be cool to share linkage if we see cool stuff for sale? Don't want to cheese off the mod squad or anything, not trying to spam, just share the love :)

while browsing craigslist just found this 04 RM250 locally, looks to be ex factory?

Cool bike, but that price is insanity.  I've never really seen RM500s around, and I'm not really a big Suzuki guy so I don't know if they're precious and legendary in that community, but I do know that the most expensive vintage bike I've ever seen in my life was a 490 Maico, bristling with all the desirable aftermarket stuff and cleaned with a toothbrush.  And that only went for $10K.  I've seen lots of really well-detailed bikes, but none of them have approached the price of that 490 until now.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

They are rare, only made 2 years, but not an ideal bike for trail riding.  The gearing is too tall and there's no low end power.  The article reviews on that bike said if you trail rode it you'd need a new clutch by end of day.
Modest beginings start with a single blow of a horn, man.

That RM500 is on a New Zealend website so it's not US Dollars.  The bike is for sale for 58 cents US.

I had the '82 model for a while which was a 465.  Yes, with the 4 speed the gearing was very tall, 1st was like 2nd in most bikes, but the thing carbureted so cleanly that it felt like you could run it down to under 100 rpm, hit the gas and it would rip and snort right through the mid range into the top end.  It would have been a phenomenal trail bike with a 5 speed.  I don't know about it having no low-end, mine had quite a bit.  That 1st generation Full Floater rear suspension was great!!

Oh, okay.  I always forget to check currency when they use the same sign.  My phone's telling me the price on that is a little South of $9,000 US.  Still pretty hefty but for a rare bike in good condition with racing history, it makes sense.
