So that begs the question: How do you get the AMA to promote not manufacturers? From my position on the outside it look to me like the AMA is influenced [to a large extent] by certain manufacturers wishes. It's almost like they believe that MX will die if it's not run in accordance to their wishes.

Well, you see, if Honda, or any other dirt biking company dies off because of the AMA's ruling, new, better companies will come into play. It is how economies work, companies die off, and new ones take over, if Japanese companies decided to pull out of supercross, because the 250/250f rule is placed in the pro class, it won't be long before other companies who couldn't ever before compete because of lack of budget, would end up rising to the top, producing good riders. It's like having a salary cap on a professional sports team, before the salary cap is there, only the richest teams will win, poorer teams won't have a chance, but with a salary cap, things are on an even playing field, and this might also keep Chad Reed with Suzuki, which in my opinion would've been the better choice.

I think your first option is good if they allowed big bore kits for the 2T. 2T need parity not an advantage. That's what 4T have now that many feel is unfair, lets not just put the shoe on the other foot. Motors of closely approximate power should race together regardless of how they function atmo.
So, basically, you have like the 144 to compete with the 250f idea? so, maybe like a 280, or 300, to compete with a 450?

General Two Stroke Talk / Crf150r discontinued?
« on: November 22, 2009, 01:43:41 PM »
I heard from a kid online(so this is a complete rumor), that the crf150r is not being made in 2010, due to lack of demand, because of the price, and how hard and expensive they were to maintain. Now, if this is true, I have to say, I told you so honda(actually, I didn't really, but I thought it). I mean, at the mini class level, it should be a time of learning how to use the clutch, how to stay in the power band and improve skills, with four strokes, you become lazy, imagine being lazy at motocross as soon as you started motocross at age 10. When the bike first came out, dealerships bought them in droves, and there was a lot of hype over the machine, but, some tracks wouldn't allow them, and any dad who knows much about motocross would know the better deal is the 85. In my opinion making a four stroke for that class was kinda a bad business decision, because that is the age when kids enter the sport, and if it's too expensive to enter, they won't. So, I am kinda hoping, that maybe we will see a red 80, out on the tracks again, because I sure didn't see too many 150r's on the track this year. If someone could get back to me on this, that would be great.

Actually, a seperate two stroke class would be like music to my ears, but, I have high doubts that we would see many top racers sponsored by bike companies other than tm, ktm, and husquavarna(did I spell that right?), because Honda is not going to want to race something they doen't even make anymore, even though they are perfectly capable

Please post what you think if you did not see a rule change you like.

Sweet, I just wish that rule will come to Canada, oh well, Canada tends to adopt any rule that the AMA puts out, so it won't be long.

CR500 conversion here....
Oh, cool, would you post some pics? I was thinking it would be fun to take a 2010 frame from the crf250r, put my cr125 engine in it, bore the engine out to 144, port and polish, and, hopefully, i would have a bit of an easier time, keeping up with bikes double my bike's displacement, but it is definetly at my level, 90% rider, not machine.

I just want to say, THANK YOU twostroke motocross.com, for opening up a forum, i have been waiting so long to be able to voice my opinion on the articles on this site, and to share my ideas with this site. By the way, my rides are a 2001 cr125r, and a 1984 xr200, (and maybe a 250 two stroke in the spring, we'll see what my mom has to say).
