Non-Moto / Re: A New 2stroke Design?

I agree with you pushdogg.
There has not been many breakthrough's in the last 20 years in engine design.
Most of the "new" inventions are 50-100 years old.
What did not work 50 years ago now do through improvements in metallurgy and production techniques.
That is why large companies spend a fortune on going through old patent's to find their "new" discovery.

Lotus Omnivore?

I'm sure this is probably a re-post, but.....

Yep, Copper Coat. I keep a can on hand. Works great for those crush gaskets like you are talking about.

I have had a KTM 200 and they do not have the bottom end like a KDX.
Yes they have way more peak power but the power delivery is like a 125 on steroids.
Thats why i would pick the KDX motor for trail riding and woods riding.

Agree. I primarily ride a kdx200 or yz250, my buddy has a ktm200. While his bike is a blast to ride, it is indeed like a 125 on steroids for power delivery. The suspension is a bit harsh and difficult to dial in (pds crap), and the dang seat feels like a 2x4 up your butt. I get tired much sooner on the KTM. I do like riding it though. If I had my own 200/300EXC, I'm confident I could get it set up just right for me and would love it. I can't let go of my KDX though. On reliability it pwns the KTM.

why two silencers on a single cylinder with one pipe? Tell me, why?

Otherwise, kinda sexy.

There's really nothing slow about a nicely tuned KDX engine. It's the chassis that makes it a bit of a slug.

I'm also about the KDX engine in a kx125 chassis

Does this guy have the little main jet in the float bowl, with a little o-ring that directs it through the needle jet?

Looks nice and clean for the price. You sure it's a 98? I didn't think 98 came with a purple tank.

I have a WER on my kdx. I ride mostly single track and woods. I don't think I want to ride without one anymore. It really helps smooth things out, and make the entire bike feel more solid.

I would stay away from the Namura. Go with a good quality piston.
OEM or Athena if you want to go cast, Wiseco for a forged.
Good luck on the build, post some pics!

Interesting. Can you elaborate? I've always been pretty impressed with Namura pistons. I know they aren't very big over here in the US, but I've installed a few, and they seem very high quality.

If you're beefing it up a bit, I would def go with a forged piston. You can't go wrong with Wiseco, for sure. Who's doing the work to the cylinder?

Non-Moto / Re: Trials Tires

I've yet to meet a person over here who has mounted a trials tire and gone back to a knobby for any reason. Seems like every time we hit the trails, there are more and more of them out there. Northwestern NC, btw....    Lovely mountain riding!

I've been trying to play reflex for a while now. single player is OK. Multiplayer you usually can't get into any games, and invite friends never works. Not much fun if I can't play with my buddies. Feel like I wasted the money on the game. I'm sure it has to do with port forwarding through the router, but for some reason THQ cant' seem to be bothered with listing the ports the game needs opened.

Anyway, unless you want to remove your router and plug your PC directly into the modem so you can play online, don't bother with this one. At least not until they release a patch or some info on ports to forward.

Thanks Coop. It may be 22 years old, but I can't tell you how satisfying it is to smoke my buddy on his yz450 when we hit the trails :)

they do surprisingly well in the sand. Not as good as a paddle, but better than your average knobby.

Crappy cell phone pics, but the best I have on hand. That's my trail bike.

Carb goin off for RB mods next week
43mm KYB USD conversion (from 93 yz250 donor, rebuilt and re-sprung)
DG pipe and silencer
WER steering damper
Top and bottom rebuild done last year, replated cylinder, rebuilt crank, new bearings, etc.
Trials tire out back
Tusk Chub bar cut down and moose mini brush gaurds
Ceet apex graphics
KX500 rear fender

I know there's more I've done to it over the last couple years, but can't put my finger on it right now, lol.
