Technical / I need stronger brakes
« on: March 04, 2012, 06:45:00 PM »
anytime you replace the pads you should replace the fluid as well. complete flush, and bleed. It sounds like you might just have a bunch of air and depleted fluid in your lines

Hey guys sorry for the delays. My Girl was in town last week and I've had my kids all this week.
The graphics are installed, however the side panel graphics wont stick, what do you expect for $40, oh well.
I got the silencer/spark arrestor, and new levers installed with the assistance of my son.

here's a pic of the clutch pack

Hey everybody!! I know I've been absent from the forums for a while and I apologize. You all must be lost without me. Ya right.
Anyway, you may remember last year I was doing quit a bit of work on my KX250, and had gotten my youngest boy a 99' KX60.
Well it's time to step him up to a KX65, he is using all of the suspension on that little 60 and parts availability is not what it used to be.
So my buddy comes up with this 03'KX65 and it needs some work, mostly brakes, a clutch, waterpump seal, and some cosmetic stuff. So I gave it the once over and got a parts list together and we worked out a deal, $550. So in the next week I'll be posting updates and photos of the rebuild.

First order of business was to figure out why the clutch didnt work but the bike still moved, so I pulled off the cover and what do you know the clutch plates are fused together, WTH?? Everything else looks real good though. So with the parts ordered, and them starting to come in already I will start the actual repairs on Monday.

I will be setting this little sucker up for woods riding, so the first mods will include Hand Guards, Skid plate, torque spacer, all reused from his 60, new plastic and graphics, adjustable levers, and in the future FMF turbine core and fatty, radiator brace, frame guards, and if I can find a bigger tank, a bigger tank.

Technical / Paint and cleaning tips / advise wanted
« on: January 16, 2012, 04:18:29 PM »
If you use a wire brush on the motor, use a brass one, steel will score the crap out of it, aluminum wheel cleaner does work well.
Chrome polish, I use eagle one, will be your best bet on the pipe if it's plated, the Scotchbrite with scratch it to hell.
Yes epoxy is tougher than spray enamel, but ceramic exhaust paint is tougher than epoxy.

Technical / Re: 01 CR 125 case split, parts needed to re-assemble?
« on: July 11, 2011, 04:51:18 AM »
get a full gasket kit, top and bottom, replace everything, you will be glad you did down the road. Also find a manual online, and study it, and print out the pages needed for the tear down, reassembly, and the specs and keep it handy while doing the job.
