I have seen bigger, gnarlier Whoops at the local peewee track than last night at A1.
Nothing like the sawtooth whoop sections from back in the day..

Avgas is just 100 octane leaded. 2 strokes love the stuff.

My yz with high compression head mods loves 100LL from the local airport. At 5.68 a gal so does my wallet..
It sound like a coffee grinder on pump gas.

General Two Stroke Talk / anyone come up with a better mousetrap?
« on: July 03, 2012, 05:33:29 PM »
Thanks all for the input, I plan on doing all of the above. I will replace it with a Moose plug and start using my inch lb wrench.
The sad thing is I am anal about torque on every other fastener but have never torqued these plugs.

I just rounded the head on my 2nd oil drain plug this year on my 05 YZ. I even went out an bought a new socket (6 sided) just for this after ruining the first one. I took the new plug to sears and picked the socket that fit the plug the best.  Still rounded it off.
They don't give you much to bite on and the metal on this thing is like butter. I like to change my oil every two races and now I the only way I will get the rounded plug out is to drill a hole in the center of it and use an easy out.
What am I doing wrong? and or does someone make an aftermarket plug the is better, larger head or better materials..

General Two Stroke Talk / Dungey on a 125
« on: July 01, 2012, 12:29:57 AM »
KTM has never bothered filling out the paper work required to race 250 2 strokes in ama pro classes.
They would have to do that first, not sure but it might be too late.

Dungey did say on his twitter thing that he had a blast riding the 125. Maybe after he sews up the championship he will get to race a stroker at one national like Roczen did last year..

See on Vital that at a KTM sponsered event in Sac Ca
Dungey rode both the 125 and 250 2 stroke and nobody bothered to film it except one 10 second clip..

General Two Stroke Talk / 2 stroke wins again..
« on: June 25, 2012, 10:48:49 PM »
I hear what you are saying about so damn fast. I have been watching some 2003- 2004 races on you tube then switch over to some current races and you will be able to notice the foopers are moving much faster. That or the AMA is playing camera tricks and speeding the action up.

Rory Mead won his 2nd GNCC of the year in the XC1 class (450) riding a ktm 300 2 stroke.
Proir to this year it had been about 4 or 5 since a 2 stroke had won a gncc xc1 race, now this year it has happened twice...
Wonder what might happen if 300s were allowed to race 450s in pro motocross and KTM put a top guy on one???

Around here most of the guys who buy stuff like this are hunters, they use them to drive the 1/4 mile from the road to their tree stand.
They need them for 2 reasons, first to load up and haul all the crap they bought at bass pro shop they bought but really don't need, secondly because they are too lazy and or out of shape to walk that far. Then a couple times a year they take them out "fun riding and roll them over and go to the ER.

I'm getting my research together to put a new bottom end in my YZ250 so heres my question: Hot rods or wiseco? They are the two most available to me but I'm leaning towards the wiseco. They have a reputation for being super in all areas.

What are peoples experiences here?
Thanks guys

In all honesty, it all depends on what you prefer, OEM, Hot Rods or Wiseco as well as what's available. I've been running Hot Rods cranks for the past couple of years without any issues. I can't speak for Wiseco cranks but I've heard some folks had issues, journals out of tolerance, but that was a some time ago and I'd think they'd sorted that out by now. Every other Wiseco product I've used has been top notch with no complaints; their inner clutch hub is a work of art.

I believe that the Hot Rods & Wiseco are made in Tiawan, while the OEM is made in Japan.  If that sort of thing matters to you..

I will add one more disapointment. I got a pair of Fox comp5 boots for Xmas this year and they already have holes in the sole and instep of the boot from the kick starter. Will not buy them again. Any ideas about a good 200 dollar pair of boots that LAST.... ><img src=" title="Angry" class="smiley">
Bought a pair of diadora boots off eBay 2 years ago, they have lasted very well, still going strong. Only problem is they are very thin around the legs, if you have big calves like I do you won't fit knee braces or even knee guards in them

Hate list. Michelin tyres and Rock Oil. Michelin tyre didn't last and blew up 3 bikes when running Rock Oil, was paying for silkolene the got Rock oil for free. After 3 blow ups gave it back and paid for silkolene again until I got motorex for free
Also love o'neal gear. Shit looks good and lasts well

Yeah it does  ;) Thats really not cool about that rock oil though, I'll avoid it. I'll avoid michelin tyres too.

Hey what do people have to say about Scorpion mid soft?

I have a Scorpion mxtra mid soft. good grip and holding up pretty good. Would buy another one.

I'm not worried about getting cramped up, thats what training and nutrition is for :-) but yes pickle juice does help, and banana baby food!

Not worried about cramping? must be under 40 yo
