Quads are good fun I won't deny it. When I go down to help my brother in law out on his property I usually blow the old cobwebs out of his quad, its a four stroke unfortunately but its still good fun. It also doesn't have the same repulsive noise that most thumpers do. But I won't buy another 2 wheel fart machine for a bloody long time
Yeah don't worry about the X to the D thing its not important.

XD=X to the D to some people... Sorry I have a pretty big presence in computers too and thats the way some of those.... people talk. It rubs off.

This thread is gonna die pretty soon and I acknowledge it was pretty pointless to begin with. I also realised (just after I posted it god damn it) that I miss spelt Prophet... Woooops.
The main purpose (and I hope I succeeded) was to give the "old breed" hope, Its not dead and if I have a say it never will be, hopefully it wont come to that.

Man When I sat on that RM... It just felt so RIGHT!!! Oh another thing I should note is that was idling and being reved for about 4 minutes and I could still touch the expansion chamber without having my fingers stick to it with heat. Again, X TO THE D! On my CRF250R if theres moisture on the pipe the moment it fires up it starts steaming of it, that should tell people something... The seat was beautifully soft and squishy too, unlike my old CRF250R that, if it wasn't for the weight disadvantage, I would've replaced the seat with a slab of concrete to allow a bit more give in it

I've heard alot of people say that everyone under 30 has bought into the dumper bs.

I'm very proud to say that I am 16 years old and Utterly in love with the sound, the smell, the excitement, the adrenelin and the CHALLENGE of riding that smoking screaming Demon!
I went to look at a bike yesterday as some of you know I'm in the market for a 125 and came across an 03 RM 125 in my local town which was insane considering how tiny it is. It was a magical bike and I plan on making it my own. Anyway the moral of the story is when he kicked her up (second kick, X TO THE D!) the smoke flowed out the pipe, that tell tale RIIINGGNNING ning ning n-ning ning reached my ears I'm confident I got excited... Been waaaay too long since I've heard such a noise. I never notice people farting anymore cos I'm so used to the sound hanging around the local track :(

Anyway my point here is: DON'T LOOSE HEART COMRADES!!! I'm never buying into it and I tell everyone I meet to stay away from those turd burgers!

Non-Moto / Possibilities of a two stroke car?
« on: February 03, 2012, 10:33:30 PM »
i would trade my nissan versa in for a car like that right now if i could.

Imagine 4-6 big fat expansion chambers coming out of the sides of the car right below the doors, with some carbon cans  :o

Expansion chambers on a car... Soooo good. I'd buy that even if I had to fill the bitch up every 2 ks. I'm already imaging the amazing sound it would make... Thats what a car should be like. And not to mention no one would have to be woken up at 2 in the morning from some Lancers and WRXs getting opened up 20 kilometres away. So many more advantages so many... Honestly if people kept their revs at 3-5 thousand MOST of the time (who wouldn't scream it out a little bit) then Maintenance costs of their car would PLUMET! If the 2 stroke motorcycle world does indeed make a huge comeback on the dumpers, I wonder if we will be seeing people jump at the potential it has for cars

Its a cracker of a saw. pretty easy to fire up but its got a majorly oversised bar on it. thats where most of the kickback is coming from. It jams up mid cut alot too but having said that it probably isnt helping that its bar and chain lubing system is buggered and it needs to be done manually. bit of a pain but the saw is super reliable.

Non-Moto / Possibilities of a two stroke car?
« on: February 03, 2012, 07:27:49 AM »
It is a very interesting area. I think with the application of turbo kits and all that power squeezing stufd you could get a hugely fuel efficient car that was very light and cheap. Not to mention you could have more room for other technologies with the smaller engine. Things like air bags and other safety mumbo jumbo. I think the area has alot of potential to be honest. Fuel prices would sky rocket if they engine still required premix though oweing to the oil in it.

It will be very interesting to see if anyone picks up on the marketing potential. Imagine how many people would buy a fuel and space efficient car that is very safe and you cpuld fix almost anything out of your own home?
Thanks for your opinions guys

Need anyone say more? Not to mention these smokers would be much lighter which opens plenty of doors in terms of accident safety, and lower fuel consumption. I really do think it has alot of potential.

What do you guys think?

I know it sounds stupid and irrational, but before you flame, think about it.
We all know that a smoker has a relatively confined powerband. We all know that almost every car on the roads is a 4t motor for several reasons: Fuel consumption, no burning oil, smoother power delivery. Obviously this is more suited to an everyday family car. On the racetrack it might be a different story but no parents want to be carrying their family around in a car that has hard hitting, unpredictable power and screaming the car out.

So My proposal is: FIX these "issues" (obviously they aren't issues for motorcycles). If we can either put a system in a car that automatically mixes the gas and oil, or better yet put a sump in, that is quite possibly the biggest "drawback" of a two stroke fixed. Again it just makes the bikes more fun xD. Secondly, EFI!!!! If we can establish a successful way of smoother power delivery over a wider powerband in a two stroke, whether it be through EFI or some other way, People may very well rather the 2 stroke machine.

At the end of the day, 2 strokes need half the displacement to achieve the same power. The only reason they aren't exactly economical is no one has put much effort into making them so. Cars obviously have a lot more room for technologies required to make it so. By halving (possibly less) the capacity of modern day cars they could in theory burn just as much possibly less fuel then the 4 t equivalent.

I think its an area that has an awful lot of potential and I hope to live to see the day that it becomes a reality.

What do you guys think?
Cheers

I don't understand how anyone could like a 4t chainsaw... My old man is the manager for a vegetation management company in Australia called ASPLUNDH. Basically they keep trees away from powerlines. So yes you've got blokes climbing trees with saws and maneuver them while up there. I ask how a heavy ass dumper of a chainsaw is going to be any use to the blokes that hold them above their heads, twisting it round all over the place etc. I used a... 26 cc saw I think last weekend. I was trimming the bushes we had loaded onto a tray truck so it could be taken on the road. I don't mind saying it wasn't exactly light especially when you're holding it to chest height with the kickback. I really do not think, and hope I'm right that we will be seeing any major four stroke saws. Christ I bloody hope not

Non-Moto / Stupid Or embarrassing things you have done on a bike
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:24:35 AM »
Left a rag in my airbox the night before a race. Brand new 05 yz250. Next day at the track I had 5 different people try to start it, pulled it up and down the pits behind a quad. Changed the ignition, plug, cdi, had the whole bike apart almost but never seen the rag. I was so mad I went home. Took it to my mechanic the next day and was quickly called a dumbass  :P

Hahaha don't worry mate I did the same thing... Well I didn't take it to a mechanic but tore my old XR100R all the way down. Anyone who isn't completely biased knows these bikes are very reliable and I was confident it wouldn't just die like that. I ended up taking out the spark plug, cut a little bit off and rescrewed the cap, I changed the oil to check for metal shavings, attempted to clutch start it etc. Eventually I decided to strip it down to its bear metal and figure it out. This bike was half project and half fun for me at the time and I wouldn't normally touch the engine but as it happened I had previously bought a full repair manual for it so I was confident I would be fine. I was too.... But when I finally got the engine out I glimpsed at the rag firmly stuffed into the intake... I'm pretty sure I killed all the ants and mice in that shed with my language... As for stupid things I was doing wheelies in a dry paddock one time about a year ago and as people who have ridden in the more arid paddocks and country side of Australia know... Termites have a nasty habbit of building their massive mounds In the most inconvenient places possible. Anyway the grass was a decent length and the beige brown it goes in the dry times so I was quite suprised  to find myself leaving the comfortable seat of my bike and catching a brief glimpse of the silver handlebars as I was flung from the machine at a less then safe velocity... When I finally figured out that I was infact inhaling dirt and I got up (after several tries) The bike was infact by some miracle fine but I had a decent concussion.

A near death experience I had was getting highsided by my bike and was flung onto the ground. As I looked to my left because I wasn't hurt at all I noticed a starpickit about half a metre away from where I lay. Somebody out there must still like me cos I was in for a sucky death if I had come off just that little bit earlier.

Embarrassing things... Where to start xD stalling it over a jump at the track, and while taking off as I was still getting used to the bike. This was my old CRF250R dumper but anyway. I also had the smarts to wash the mud off my gloves before resuming riding one time.... You can imagine how much grip that gave me of my handlebars
