General Two Stroke Talk / Restore my bike or get a newer one?
« on: January 04, 2013, 03:07:51 PM »
I really like the plastic pre-load ring, very essy to use.... Same as the 1/4 turn gas cap. You gotta remember that sometimes it is the operators who have issue...

Logan- if you keep your '01, don't go crazy trying to make it new. Keep the important components fresh and a new(er) bike will eventually come your way with time and work.

Dope rhyme Yo!

Anyway, I will still be there watching the SX races...not my fave thing by any means, but as a junkie, I need a fix.

I am waiting for the NATIONALS where it is 100% better and SOUTHWICK is still on the schedule.

General Two Stroke Talk / What 2013 bike should I get?
« on: December 11, 2012, 01:45:41 AM »
Yes, the Husky is the obvious choice in my opinion... Great value without sacrificing anything. Very aggressive dealer pricing at a few dealers make them an even better deal. Bills MC Plus in Oregon always has the best prices and makes the shipping easy and cheap.

Easy now Ford... It was a jab in the ribs and based off your own sig.... I wasn't paying attention other than you posted an interest in the 2013 Yamaha. I have seen the "new" Yamahas and have said that I even like them more or less... I just cant get past the ancient body work. Yes, the Yamahas are probably better than most can ride, in stock form. I have even defended Yamaha on here as supporting 2 strokes by still manufacturing them, while some of the radical types on here argue to the contrary... Buy it Ford and support the only Japanese mfg that still makes a 2t. If I got one, the UFO kit would be on it the same day.

Gotcha on the Smart Carb... All are on back order, except the 40mm...

Thanks for the personal insight TCI... If this bike is just the beginning, I can't wait to see what is next!! I would be very interested in one of your bikes if you ever choose to produce anything for consumers.

Well done.

Nice.... Really nice.  Where is the Smart Carb? Like the hydro clutch, but a little surprised you didn't try fitting a case slave. Great bike all in all.

I may have missed this part, but what is the purpose of this build? Replication/sales? Personal fun? I would be pretty into this bike as a choice...

From an outsiders perspective, mottos are just silly words... To the people that have lived and earned those sayings through blood and sacrifice, it is more than you will ever realise. I get where you are coming from, but certain things like this musn't be treated lightly. Trust me Stu, it is a brotherhood that stays with you forever and to understand this, you have to "be there".

Glad your Brother is relatively safe!

^^^^ As a combat military vet with two different countries, I highly suggest you DON'T get any military sayings or mottos without earning them by being there... May put you in an awkward situation by causing offence with whatever Marine, Soldier, Legionnaire, etc... Do what you will however as most do. Tell your Brother Thanks and to stay safe btw..

SFB Racing in Italy had a 6th gear kit for CRs.... May be a real PITA to track that down however... For most mortals, 5 gears is plenty. Super Trucker knows his stuff when it comes to cr125s...

Meh. Doesnt hurt to dream I guess.

Seeing this bike sure makes me miss my 150... For future reference, when the 144 is ready to be rebuilt, consider the 165 kit.

I had the FMF pipe on mine and it worked well and gave a lil more oomph mid to top... I also tried the Keihin carb, but ultimately went with the full RB Carb treatment and Suzuki rm 125 needle 17/64... Also had the Power Valve spring kit in it... Stiffer KX250f clutch spyings...that was it engine wise and loved that power. Bike ripped...

If this bike is a new left over, grease the suspension NOW... The lower shock bearing is notoriously poor and usually has absolutely no grease... Zilch. It will rust in no time flat.

The rads are kinda weak, so get some guards.

Great ride Beaner, enjoy.
