Technical / Re: Exhaust sytems for KX250

Chad the PC works pipe with the R304 silencer would be what I would go with. I run that set up with my 02 Honda CR 125 and I also use the v-force and my bike rips. I can stay within a bike and a half length of 250f's with it so I'm happy with that set up. There's a reason you actually see more PC exhausts on 2t's than any other exhaust thats because they work better! and the raw metal on the works pipe looks sweet too!

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: So now I hate Stewart even more.

Stewart is an amazing rider/racer he's just distracted right now if he would race a full blown 250 2 stroke against the 450's he would without a doubt smoke em! or even if he would do the same thing on a full blown 125 2 stroke against the 250f's he would smoke them too! When he was on a 125 he was linear fast no one could even remotely come close to staying with him. He made too big of a jump going from a 125 2 stroke to a 450 four stroke. There is two totally differant riding styles between the two and in my oppinion he was trying to ride his 450 like he rode his 125 WIDE OPEN and no way can you do that on a 450 theres alot of throttle control and finese to riding a 450 and riding one fast and under control at the same time. I have heard that he is going to race the 2012 outdoor nationals even if he has to do it out of his own pocket. So only time will tell if he does that if he does I think we'll see a differant JS7 that we have seen of late. I myself hope that he does come back to the outdoor nationals.

mxforever it's always good to have the extra power over the next guy especially if your racing heavily you can use it but once you start over boring you also will start loseing the reliability of the engine. Unless your racing and have the extra cash to rebuild the engine more often I would keep it stock. You can always add bolt on go fast goodies like a v-force reed valve or a boyesen rad valve or even a pro-circuit or fmf exhaust those all will give you more power.

No problem hope I was some help I'm useing a NGK iridium plug in my CR125 and I think they are much better than the regular NGK plugs they take less spark to fire and throttle responce is some better also.

One thing a motocross bike shouldn't have is a idle couple of reason's for that 1 being if your racing or just play riding and you go down your bike will shut itself off and not lay there running wide open and possibly blow the engine. Reason 2 is fairly simple when you start the engine your putting pre-mix into the engine and if your bike is sitting there idleing your engine is actually loading itself up.Because the engine isn't running at high enough RPM to keep the eccess pre-mix burnt off. If you get rid of the idle you have to keep blipping the throttle to keep it running and your keeping it cleared out. But I would still try going 1 size smaller on the pilot jet and 1 number hotter on the spark plug both of these will help also.

The stock jetting spec for your 2005 CR 250 are main jet #420
                                                                   pilot jet #40
neddle 6DGy26-65 clip 3rd position from top
                                                                   air screw 2 turns out

What spark plug are you useing in your CR? If you are useing a #9 plug try dropping to a # 8 plug that will be a little hotter plug and that will help burn off the excess pre-mix that is put into the engine on start up. You could also drop 1 number on your pilot jet that will cut back on the pre-mix that is put into the engine on start up also. Find out what the stock jetting should be first and go from there but dropping 1 number on the pilot and going to a # 8 plug would be the first two things I would do then adjust the air screw according to get the correct reading on the spark plug. You say you are useing a FMF exhaust so FMF is probably saying to go 1 to 2 main jets leaner I'm just guessing though if thats the case then start with the next leaner main from stock main jet and try  adjusting the air screw 1/8 turn in from what your manual says for that leaner main jet and do the WOT test and see what your plug looks like. I have a 2002 Honda CR125 I'm useing a pro circuit works exhaust with mine and I did the things to my bike that I suggested to you and my 125 is running great I'm going to go 1 more main jet leaner #380 to get rid of a little more spooge nothing is running out the end of the exhaust but you can see just a little yet just around the inside edge of the silencer.

Thanx EJ
It's actually got alot to do with the government and how they are trying to crack down on polution and noise and its just really sad that motocross had to become a victom of it all. I'm a die hard 2 stroke fan myself and been racing 2 strokes since the late 70's current bike is a 2002 Honda CR125 and to me there's nothing better than the smell of pre-mix. And more than likely if you would ask any of the national pro's out there now how they feel about the 2 strokes probably 80% or more would say they love them and would love to race them. But all the stipulations they have in there contracts they are not aloud to say that. And maybe just maybe in time the 2 strokes just might be back and screaming around the national tracks again! :o

EJ the pro national riders didn't choose to ride the 4 strokes it's the manufacturer's that chose to go to 4 stroke all the racers do is race the bikes. If the manufacturer's would choose to switch back to 2 strokes tomorrow there would be nothing at all the riders could do about it. It's there jobs to race what ever  the factory teams supply them with. I wish they would go back to 2 strokes myself but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
