Okay so i picked up some new grips today and i decided to use the "Hairspray" Method and i used a quite powerful hairspray but to my disappointment. it didnt hold them firmly in place. The throttle side seems okay. But the left is still twisting on bar. What is the best way to lock them on and prevent them from twisting at all?

« on: August 08, 2010, 07:22:29 PM »
There is a small "Slit like" Gap around the top of the pipe where it connects to the motor. Is this normal. Or do I need to fix it?  Just trying to get her ready for the 1st ride! ;D

Its around the top where its hardest to see "Of course" Idk if this is a problem or not. It may be normal but if it isn't im gunna fix it now.

General Two Stroke Talk / Can i switch from 40:1 to 32:1???
« on: August 05, 2010, 06:22:22 PM »
As I'm sure you guys know I recently picked up my 1st bike. A 2004 Yamaha YZ250. And the previous owner of the bike took very good care of it but he was running 40:1 And i think that seems kinda lean. I'm thinking about switching to 32:1 as most people I talk to agree 40:1 is not enough. But My question is can i switch over to 32:1? My bike seems to run rich "Alot of smoke and a little bit of spooge in the silencer" But I actually heard that running 32:1 may fix this??? ???     I live in Florida And its REALLY hot right now it averages about 92-94 degrees everyday and there is quite a bit of humidity. So would it be a good Idea??

« on: July 31, 2010, 07:13:17 PM »
Me and my brother went for a short ride around our neighbor hood today and he noticed when i got back that smoke was coming out of where the pipe connects to the exhaust. And it also spits some of that famous nasty left over 2 stroke on the swing arm. I included a pic. As you can see it leaks right out of the boot. what can i do to eliminate it?

Technical / The best way to get the right Premix ratio??
« on: July 30, 2010, 08:30:44 AM »
Okay so as you guys know I just got my YZ250. And the old gas thats been sitting in it has almost been used completely. So I will be needing to make some Premix for the 1st time soon. I am gunna pick up a new regular 5 gal gas tank from the store soon and I am gunna use Bel-Ray 2 stroke oil "As that is what the guy used before" and He said he mixed it 40:1 so im gunna do the same. but my question is with these regular gas tanks how can you get an accurate measurement to make sure the ratio is right?

Hi Guys! Well I have been searching for a bike for the past couple months on craigslist and I finally found one!!! Let me just show you the bike before any further detail...

The Bike is a 2004 Yamaha YZ250. My mom Paid for it "It's a graduation present." We got the Bike for $1500 and it came with a tire stand "I've ordered an actual stand." some bel-ray oils. 2 new NGK spark plugs. A helmet and goggles "Even though my head is too big for it lol." He even threw in a ramp!

Mechanically the bike is Mint! Just fully rebuilt. It has TONS of compression. ripped a hole in my nike's kickin the sob over for a test ride. It has Renthal Handle Bars, Renthal Chain and Sprockets, FMF Gold Series Narly pipe "its been jetted", MSR clutch, He had the bike Rebuilt by Professionals. Fully rebuilt with a Wiseco top end. The tires are almost new. Oh and I can't forget EXCEL WHEELS ;D

And as you can Imagine the bike HAULS! :o Lets just say im glad i didnt eat anything before i test rode it in the field he had next to his house.  ;D

The only the thing the bike could use is New black grips. and number plate shrouds then its PERFECT!! oh and some fresh gas. its been sitting. Tell me what ya think!!!

General Two Stroke Talk / Title for a dirtbike?
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:31:48 PM »
Hi I live in Florida and am looking at buying a used 2002 YZ250 from a guy on craigslist. He says he has a title in hand. But i wasnt aware these things had them. So my question is... How is the title transferred over? Does he just sign it over to me? I wouldnt figure you would go to the DMV or something like that being as its a non-Licensed bike. Thanks for the info guys...
