In my opinion the 4-strokes have made the younger & some of the not so young MX racers a bit lazy.I know the 4-strokes are a fair amount heavier but most experienced racers know how to make the bikes work for them instead of against them, but I still believe the 4-strokes make a rider/racer a little bit on the lazy side due to less shifting, the engine braking of a 4 stroke and the different power characteristics of a 4-choke,meaning the smoother, albeit slower revving power of the engine. These guys have to get back to the basics & learn how to race the good ol' 2-strokes and learn how to shift the bikes & use the advantages of the 2-stroke bikes & quit being so damn lazy! "JUST MY OPINION"...You would be right there Maicoman, i have just got back on a 2t 250 after having a 450 for the last couple of years and i can say they do make you lazy. Its pretty hard to start with, havin to get used to actually riding the bike, using the clutch and changin gears. Habits are hard to break but seein i have ridden 2ts more than 4s i got back in the swing of things pretty quick.
I agree with the Keep It Simple Stupid idea of fewer rules is better.I agree with Chokey. Keep the max displacement limit and leave it up to us to "run what we brung". Thats the way it should be.
I would love to see that simplified to it's most basic level: Run what ya brung. Have a maximum displacement limit, require all bikes to be production models, and require that all performace parts and modifications be limited to items and services available for sale to the general public. No "works" production bikes from the factories, no unobtanium suspension or engine parts.
If you think you can win on your XYZ 200 two-stroke against somebody on their ABC 425 four-stroke, then by all means enetr the race with it and give it your best shot.
In such a scenario, manufacturers would have a real incentive to innovate and be creative to build what they believed to be the best overall package.
That suspension is Sexy!!Aint that the truth!!
Unit makes it? Really? I thought they just made stickers for the back window of commodoresThats what i was thinkin too........lol. The only piece of Unit clothing i would even consider wearing....
Wasnt Cam Taylor riding an RM 250 aswell? according to ADB he was, didnt say how he went but. There was a Aussie guy featured awhile back on the home page thats was to racing a smoker in the Aussie series.
On a RM.
Any of you Aussie guys know how he is getting on ?
Yeah that was Kim Ashkenazi. He hasnt ridden a round yet which is very unfortunate cos I was looking for him to do great things. He was a victim of circumstance and the way the entries were set up, it was first in best dressed and unfortunately he wasn't in the first entries received and has been a reserve rider. This has caused much conjecture, and many arguments resulted arguing that there should be timed qualifying for all entered and then the top 40 qualifiers then race. He was set to race the third round of the nationals but the round wasn't run due to the tragic accident that occured in practice. He should be racing in the fourth round next weekend and I expect to see him up the front. Go "Ashcan" !!!!!!!
