Heat and shrink.
Heat the caps then dunk them in cold water.
Have done it many times with stuck outboard motor parts.

General Two Stroke Talk / KTM to TM

here are the values ??that you asked:
squish-1.8mm to1.9mm
advance-2.9mm BTDC
30-31 cc head volume

Interesting squish figures. I have experimented with the squish on mine from 0.9-1.2mm. I have to run race fuel with the lower setting. I know they changed the head between 07' and the newer bikes, I wonder if those specs would suit my engine. I will measure the head this weekend to see what the cc is.

Cool. I saw that on the news the other night.
My hunting mate keeps trying to get me down there for the ballot.
But listening to his stories ( he's been before ) that is some hard country.
Last time he went down for 14 days. It rained every day. And when it rains in Fiordland, it f***ing Rains.
One day maybe.

Cool Shanes, I thought you had a bit more class then the average aussie. ;D

Those guys sure were mad bastards.
Would have been an exciting way to make a living.
Simpler times for sure. I don't think OSH or H & S would allow that type of activity today. :(
Peter Avery, the pilot who flys me into the bush used to do live capture. He has a place in Fiordland.
Maybe your old man knows him.?

I had trouble getting my 1986 rm125 caps off, so i mounted them back into the triple clamps and used an impact gun on low psi. I did the low psi because the caps are aluminum. Maybe give that a shot, and if you use the right socket you shouldnt strip anything out.

Iv'e done that before but you relly need a single hex socket as the multi hex sockets tend to round off the aluminium cap.

BTW. The 82' is a full reed motor which the 84' is not. You have the better motor for sure.
I would love to find an 82' motor for my bike.

Nice bike. I have a 84' and have the full DG system. Seems to perform well but I havn't compared it back to back with the standard system.
Set your quish to 0.8 or 32 thou. I didn't do any port work except to clean them up and case match the halfs. Am also running the Boyesen power reeds. Bike is not lacking power compared to other bikes in the class, Pre 85 125.
I am running the 34mm carb as well.
My next mod will be to remachine the head to except o-rings instead of the head gasket. I did this to my 84' 250. Makes removing the head an easier job and you don't stuff a head gasket each time.
The bike loves to rev to the moon and the sign off is quite abrupt, but you learn where it is and it's easy to keep in the band.
There is a build thread on here on the bike.
