Speaking about off road SACHS,the largest engine Sachs developed was the over bored 250 into 255 cc ( 1976 ) just to bring it to the US market. They called it a 350 but it was only 255cc.

By producing the 300 cc WANKEL engine,it was debatet what it realy was, because it fired 3 times in one revolution so some people claimed it was therefore a 900 cc.

I do not get it, in the old days 250 2 strokes were always faster then the 500 2 strokes. So why do we think that it is not fair to race a 250 2 stroke against 450 4 strokes. Why should all of a sudden a 450 2 stroke be faster then a 450 4 stroke?

500 cc off road bikes are FASTER,but depend on what track the 250,s are QUICKER.
Again, depend on what kind of track, the 125 cc bikes can be QUICKER then 250-500.

Hey, I have a question about this:

http://picasaweb.google.com/Vindurospeedy/VintageAndMotorcycleItemsForSale#5442292902217402882

Looks exactly the same as the destroyed SEM rotor we pulled out of my buddies 91 KTM 300. Any idea if it will fit?

Yes this is exactly the Rotor for your 19912 KTM 250-300 .

Can everybody see what I see?? ;D
And the tranny looks inside just the same???
I was a Hodaka dealer for 2 years in Ontario Canada and only quit because they came in a big wooden box as a pair. One enduro and one MX.I sold more enduros at the time and piled up the mx bikes.
The importer would not sell them single,so I quit.
Anyway, working on the engines I was amaced about the internal similarity between them and Zuendapp and Sachs engines. :)

Oil injection always requires less oil than premix and in many ways is vastly superior to premixing. If a car were built using a 2 stroke, I'm pretty sure oil injection would be used instead of premix. So then you just one more fluid reservoir to fill - just like wiper fluid, brake fluid, tranny fluid, differential gear oil, engine oil, gas, etc...

Why are you using less oil in a oil injection system???
 ???

Mr. Clasen,
What I do not need is an image of you ready to leave for your favorite offroad event (unless I'm invited).
What I do need is step by step instructions on how to load an image into the forum so that my brain, already suffering from decades of twostoke fumes and thousands of miles(KM's) of offroad jarring, can figure it out. That is unless you don't want to see the mystery motorcycle I am about to load!

Yes I want to see.
I use Imageshack.us .
Download it(free) make it a Menue board on top of your screen and then follow step by step.
Its easy believe me.

What is the procedure for posting an image to the forum? I must be missing something because I have had no luck so far. Thanks.

Hello Helmut,
That reed cylinder, was it stock Sachs or something special that someone fabricated? If it was stock, what model of Sachs/Hercules would have used it? Thanks.

I understand that Sachs for its 250 MC -5  fabricated a few reed cylinders using Honda reeds, shortly before they closed the off road division.
This cylinder is a original Sachs cylinder, not changed over from a standard one.

Hello Helmut,
I'm almost 1.93 metres in height (6-5).The reason that I pursuaded Horst to give me the Ceriani's is that the forks had 13mm more travel then the Zoke's and far superior action. These Ceriani's were special forks that he had on a Sachs MC250 and the travel exceeded that of the stock Marzocchis. On a different subject, where did you get that reed cylinder?

Somebody on the German Offroad forum offered the cylinder.I talked to him and we made a deal. What came was a reed cylinder where somebody with the wrong tools pulled the liner out and made the inner diameter oval plus they cracked one fin.(the bugger never told me that.) ::)
I send the cylinder and a new 250 Piston to a company in Quebec, asking them to,fabrikate a new sleeve, port it and fit to the piston and mentioned my dream would be Nicasil.
They called me and said,no Nicasil on top of a SLEEVE,but they had to weld the inner bore anyway to get it round,so why not adding some more layers of alu welding, bore it,port it and Nicasil it to fit.
I was in heaven,they did,(they welded the cracket fin over beautyfully) and I have a REED-NICASIL Cylinder.Works like a charme. :D

Hey, my Husky has two rimlocks on the back.  After having four tubes ripped right off the valve-stem in as many riding seasons, we decided it was time to give it some bawls.

:D   NON of my Vintage bikes 175 to 350 have ANY rimlocks. ;D

You must do something wrong with your wheels????? ::)

I forgot to mention that when I purchased my GS6 from Horst he put on a set of factory Ceriani's from an MC250 he had.

Hello Carl.
I dont understand.
All SACHS MC 250s came with long Marzocchis and the HERCULES GS models came with shorter Ceriani,s.
Do you have extreme short legs that he swapt forks from high to low???
And if so,the SACHS would be pointed down in the front(bad handling) unless you would put shorter shocks in the rear to get the bike back into balance....

What is the procedure for loading images?

Hello Mr.Clasen,

My name is Carl Heldt, I live in Kamloops,British Columbia and I used to own a business (motorsports) in Vancouver. You probaly don't remember but we spoke by telephone a couple of times.I raced a GS7 and a GS6 as a kid in the late 70's.I got to know Mr.Kempter during this time and ,yes, my German is very "rusty".I'm quite certain you met a friend and riding partner of mine, the late Dan Amor.Dan was a multi medalist at the ISDT/ISDE.I'm busy restoring a 1251 6B and my GS6 250.When I'm done I will send you pictures.Thanks.

OK Carl.Thats better.
Yes of course I know Dany Amor.I rode ISDT in Austria with him.
Horst Kempter past away in Montreal many years ago.Out of the blue in his VAN he got a hearth attack, was able to steer the Van out of traffic and past away behind the steering wheel.
To send pics I use IMAGESHACK.
It,s very simple and fast.
When you say GS 7 you mean a Hercules with a 7 speed engine??
And your GS 6 is a modified MC 250 SACHS 6 speeder????
Cheers....
