Eh, forget that! Base gaskets don't really affect compression - i counted! The only affecting thing is  the head gasket.   And the head itself. :)

Are you serious ?

Your getting hot fella, try lifting the needle a notch or two, and check ign timing has not slipped, we also had this on two of our bikes, one was to lean and the other had the inner core in the tailpipe crack and partially block the tailpipe causeing heat to build in the cylinder.

Just thinking about what you have said abount new rings would suggest you have more compression and/or got the squish wrong ?

You could take 0.5+mm off the cylinder base and the check squish and work head to adjust, this gives better low-mid delivery, also advance your ign timing a touch

in UK we only have choice of unleaded or super unleaded.. whats AV gas?

I'm in the UK dude and have the choice of almost all race fuels, do a search, you can get VP, ELF,  Sunoco etc. BP sell a 102 pump fuel as well.

I have tried to get E85 working but found to many problems, one was the huge jets needed to run it, we even ran our sx125 without a mainjet installed ?  We worked out we cold get about 20min's max from a full tank, but we found it caused a whole lot of wear to piston and ring, almost has the feeling of being 'dry'  It also eat crankseals !

Avgas was good when we could get it, we ran that 100% mixed with motul800 @25:1  But its getting harder and harder to find the stuff.

Been experimenting with other stuff recently and found some real good additives in the, well lets say 'solvent' family of chemicals. Melted a few slugs along the way, but now I'm happy running my mix in all our 2st's and its ultra reliable. Pump gas in the UK sucks for anyone running decent motors but most guys dont bother with fuel as they just think fuel is 'fuel' and fill up at their local forecourt. (all the better for us ;))

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Red Bull Pro Nationals In UK
« on: January 17, 2010, 09:40:09 AM »
Does anyone know if the UK Red Bull Pro National races have equal desplacement rules for both 2 and 4 strokes?

Dont think they do for the Nationals, the youth's did though if I remember correctly  :o

It seems the MCF have concentrated on the 4st National side of their series as the 2st series is down to one class of mixed abilitys, it seems gone are the 5 groups of 2st riders making a days racing without a 4st being heard. But they are stirring up things between promoters here in the UK with some razzmatazz, they soon could rival the ACU for rights to hold our National Championships.

I do hope they are able to regenerate the 2st series again as it was fun, there is however a shining light on the horizon with a brand new 2st series named the 2st National's I think, their offering 125, 250 and 500cc classes and even a vets 2st class. This series seems to be the one all the riders here are talking about. Their dates can be found on the news page of 125mx.com
