Can we see what questions were asked?

One of the bigest arguments I have heard is that on a rough track the 4t gets an edge over the 2t.  Do you feel that later in the moto or in the second moto that you have to try harder to beat the "tractors" that your rivials are on.

That was funny.  They were just amazed at the performance of a 2 stroke, but you can still tell that they are $4t proud (I gave it a 4 on motor because I am used to all the 4 stroke toque).

You also might try a "Power Now" They do help at equal to or less than half throttle.

A buddy of mine used to race for Kawasaki in the mid 90's and I know their plastics were lighter and they didn't even ride on factory frames back then but still the 100k number sounds unreal.  I have heard that their frames were almost 1/2 the weight of the production frame.  As for 3,800 for a set of foot pegs, for 3,800 I would mine the metal, smelt it down, hammer it out and weld it together.

That is the one for total price and the one for his pegs alone are on his personal website (nacnac.com)

I don't understand how it could cost that much, when I can build the same bike (or very close to) for about 20k, and thats if I paid 7k for the bike to start with.  The only thing I can say is unless someone is exagerating the numbers (wich I suspect) then someone is making some crazy money for machine work.

General Two Stroke Talk / The Price of Rice

There is alot of talk about how "expensive" MX is today because of the "4 stroke technology".  I was wondering if any of you know roughly how much it costs to build a 4t to race spec.  I have read that Jermy McGraths 06 cr250 was $100,000 (i can post the link) but it also claimed that his foot pegs were $3,800.  I do not understand how this can be.  I am curently building a 02 cr250 and am doing (almost) everything under the sun to it and it is only going to cost me <3k for the motor, <1k for suspension, and mabey 1k more in different acessories.  I have found showa A kit forks for <5k, I belive they are 10 new.  So at worst I am seing mabey 20k for a new 2t built to the hilt.

I say ride with them and "if" you have a finely tuned 2 stroke, let them ride it, show them what it can do.  I know that when I finish this build on my 02 that I will let some of my faster friends ride it, just to show them what it can do.  I also buy parts from Mitch Payme Payton, I buy 2-stroke parts, to show them that they can still make money off of selling two-stroke parts.  If we boycott every company that suports 4t's then we are killing 2t's because these compnies see that their is no money in 2t's so they will stop producing parts.  .02

Thanks John,

I will be posting more pictures as I continue the build.  We are hoping to get my gears back from "the guy" first part of next week and my cases and cylinder will be done this week.  I am hoping to have it put together by next weekend so I will have a couple weeks to get it tuned in/practice before our state series starts here  :)

Oh yeah I still can not see the smileys :(

I saw an interview where Rossi was talking about the 500 2t and he said those guys were 10x the rider he is today and he would have given anything to race them in their prime.

If you are a fan of FMF go with the SST with a short silencer or go with a works procircuit with a shorty silencer. The main thing being the short silencer for the top end.  You will still need motor work done and it would help if you did reeds as well. correct me if I am wrong but a good set of stiff reeds would work good for a hard hit.  Don't bother with a power now valve, but I would also look into a new throttle tube so you can turn that into a "light switch" as well.

This is just my opinion and I am by no means a SME (subject matter expert).
