General Two Stroke Talk / Couple personal stories.
« on: April 28, 2010, 10:57:19 AM »
First, my friend here in Dallas loves 4 strokes, but still never hated 2 strokes. He was just a 4 stroke junky and we argue back and forth about costs, problems etc. He usually has the 4 strokes don't cost any more attitude.  We argue about the 2 strokes being killed off and he usually calls me a conspiracy person bla bla bla.  But we've always been civil about it.  Anyways, the other day he calls me up and tells me, "I'm trying to figure out how to repay you for selling me this DRZ400."  (I sold it to him not running, so he knew, that's what he does, buys broke 4 strokes and fixes them)  I'm like what's wrong.  He can't figure out why it jumps teeth on the cam chain. He said he also found a oil pump gear was all stripped off and so no oil would be getting up to the topend.  Long story short, he isn't a 2 stroke switch still. But I got him good this day.  I said, "2 strokes."  He said, why what does that matter?  I said, "Ummm, tell me what parts in that DRZ that are messed up, would be in the 2 stroke."  He thought for a second, and said, yeah you got me.

2nd story
I bought a 86 XL600R to ride back and forth to ride. Though it does what I want and I get great fuel mileage. I started feeling more and more how a 450F feels as far as power. It has plenty of power, and runs great. But it seriously is just a boring feeling.  When people talked about the fun factor, I didn't really relate since I have only ridden a few 4 stroke offroad bikes. This bike isn't really an offroad per say, but the power is very comparable to the 450F's I've ridden.  it is just boring.  I actually thought my 500af was comparable to the 450F's, until I really started comparing how they feel. It is not...

Interesting. Can anyone find me the post where a PR was put out about the Honda sponsored 150cc series in Europe?  I'm trying to show my friend that is a 4 stroke lover, that Honda was making the series to sell their bike and it didn't work.

Superhunky.com  Says more to come. Very interesting. All these guys talking about fighting the environmentals, and all. Then it comes out that their side is fighting against them.

General Two Stroke Talk / March 19th: Dallas Supercross ride day.
« on: March 01, 2010, 10:41:07 AM »
I've just confirmed with the track the day is a go. So let's do this. Bring your bikes to ride on Friday March 19th at UndergroundMX. Website here http://undergroundmxpark.com/ It is pretty fun, and safe. There is a crazy Supercross track for any pro's who aren't racing the supercross, but would like to ride the same supercross track, because it is made as a replica. I personally am too old for that stuff anymore. :-) Post if you are gonna ride.

General Two Stroke Talk / FIM rules and other personal info
« on: February 23, 2010, 05:12:50 AM »
Well, according to the rulebook, the FIM allows MX3 to field up to a 500cc 2 stroke.  So if someone actually wanted, they could race a AF500 or even Maico's etc.  That would be something that someone over the pond should look into.  According to magazine tests, the 500AF's on both Kawi's and Honda's, outran the 450F.

Next, is my personal experience recently, that made me happy.  I went to get my tires mounted, since I powdercoated them, I didn't want to scuff them. Anyways, I showed the 20ish kid my CR500AF pics, and he said, "I would so trade my 450F for one of those, I'm so over the 4 stroke thing."  I was like, awesome.  I hope amateurs start moving away from the 4 strokes, and start showing the general population, that the 2 stroke when fairly raced, can win still.  If we start having enough racing in the local races and winning, we maybe won't even need the pro's riding them.  Other than some of our  people like the team John is setting up.  If everyone remembers back, the 4 strokes didn't take over until 04ish, but the bikes had been made since the late 90's (YZ400F).  So it takes time to change everyones mind.  Hopefully, the tide is starting to shift and we will start seeing it more and more.  Just my 2 cents on things.
