Well this Deputy won at least 2 classes.  I guess I probably cut the track though since we are a crooked bunch. You guys are killing me.

General Two Stroke Talk / 2013 Ohio Police and Fire Games 2T Report
« on: June 13, 2013, 03:04:33 PM »
I just got done racing the 2013 Police and Fire Games, they were yesterday, Thursday 6-13 at Smith Road Raceway in Medina Ohio.  I am happy to report there was an impressive 2 stroke showing.  In the first set of motos a 2T won every single bike class except for one.  I can't speak for the second set because I did not get to watch all of them.

I bet McDade can get a top 10 if he is able to race enough rounds!  This excites me.

General Two Stroke Talk / 2 stroke project (Update 20/05)

If you are going that route, try researching the Peregrine Falcon.  It is the fastest bird of prey (actually fastest animal) on earth.  It was endangered but is making a comeback, like the 2 stroke. Most people think birds of prey are pretty cool, however insects tend to gross people out me included.  My wife is in charge of household spider removal duties.

General Two Stroke Talk / What to do you carry when trail riding?
« on: May 12, 2013, 04:19:24 PM »
My rides where I take a pack is usually between 23 miles and 49 miles depending on which way I go.  I carry a camel back of water, extra plug, plug wrench, 8 and 10mm wrenches, trail maps with the coordinates of suitable air evac points penciled in.  On the longer rides I carry an MSR fuel bottle filled with fuel for the bike.  I don't bring food because I'm riding not picnicking and I don't bring alot of tools because if I need them the chances of me fixing on the trail are slim.  I do have a GPS mounted on my bars, I personally could get lost in my own yard, during daylight hours and my yard is only a couple acres.  I ride in a national forest and there are almost always a few types to be found who can help out. There types are as follows.

1. The Conestoga Wagon:  This guy has everything, spare plugs, tubes, a chain, water, fuel, duct tape, wrenches, sockets, pliers, screw drivers, enough food for an over-nighter,  a couple beers, tow strap, a sat phone, GPS, Emergency Beacon, road flares and I am probably leaving some of out.

2. UTV Drivers:  These guys love loading your bike into the back and strapping it efficiently in place.  They always have straps and also a system for making your bike fit.  They have done it before.  These guys love to help.  All they ask in return is a conversation on the way out about how much you can do with a UTV, how fun they are to drive.  They typically are looking for complements which show that they are accepted as equals by the bike and quad community.

3. Quad Guys: These guys can go alot of directions.  It can be someone enjoying the scenery on a utility quad.  Someone with a lifted quad, snorkel equipped, with tires the size of a top fuel dragster who enjoys floating his machine across bodies of water.  A GNCC type out there putting in training. The nuclear family on a variety of machine sizes.  Then you can also run into the more nefarious quad types, these guys usually have hunting boots and combination of old riding gear from the 1990's and civilian attire.  Their mounts can differ, but they are almost always clapped out, plastic stitched with zip ties, front fenders cut with a sawzall to make it look like a race quad.  They will generally be covered randomly in stickers they got for free with product purchases, promotion hand outs etc..  The best part is they will always help you.  Quad guys can find a way.  If they have to use their clothing combined with yours to produce a tow rope they will!

General Two Stroke Talk / 2 stroke project (Update 20/05)
« on: May 07, 2013, 12:35:46 AM »
Two Strokes appeal to some people and not to others.  They appeal to me because:
1. Significantly lighter than 4 strokes
2. In my opinion more fun to ride
3. produce 10 more horsepower per quarter liter
4. 1/10th the moving parts
5. less expensive to purchase and maintain
6. anyone with an owners manual and $200 USD in hand tools can repair virtually anything that needs it
7. I prefer using the rear wheel to make my direction changes
8. I love the smell of pre-mix
9. The sound waves do not travel as far
10. They make jumping easier

Good luck with your project!

General Two Stroke Talk / GPS
« on: April 29, 2013, 03:28:09 AM »
I use a trailtech voyager, they send you one calibrated to your bike.  Does GPS tracking, routes and waypoints.  Measures engine temp, keeps track of run/ride time which makes keeping an eye on fuel easier.  Has a tach and speedometer.  You can save your daily ride to go back to it later using the included ride leader software or upload it to an interface with google earth called OHVtrails.net, this way others can download your ride or you can download others and follow their tracks.  Came with handlebar mount and it was easy to install and worked as promised.  I have had it for a little over a year and use it all the time.  I have gotten lost on my own property before, with this it never happened again.  I has taken all the mud, water, rain and dust I could throw at it.  It is somewhere around $240 bucks at rockymountainatv.com   Hope this helps

Technical / 2003 YZ250 Project... need some help and some direction!
« on: August 06, 2012, 06:23:11 AM »
I have a Eric Gorr 295 with mo' better power band set up for high test pump gas.  Added a flywheel weight, V-Force reeds, Pro Circuit pipe and silencer.  It has sick down low, mid range hit is manageable and still pulls on top.  I also have a FMF Fatty pipe and a Gnarly pipe as well as various FMF silencers.  Truthfully changing the pipe does not make a notable difference, they are all good.  Bike is absolutely sick in the woods, it is hard to stall and the power is about as close to 4T as a 2T can get, very smooth, hooks up great in hard pack conditions and still rips on top and steers with the rear as a 2T should.  I highly recommend it for woods riding, and it does great at MX too!

Non-Moto / Nitro Circus Movie?!?!?

I am in college now.  I went to the Air Force first and now that I am a civilian again I have the opportunity to go to college.  Here is what I do to stay in touch with moto as well as some things I know that others do.  Me personally I got a storage unit and I keep my bike down here with me.  I only get to ride a half dozen times a year now but I still get to ride.  I help out at a track, find one that is close by and tell them your situation.  They may pay you to help they may not, I don't get paid but for me to be out there running equipment, helping on race day with various tasks is really something that is therapeutic to me.  I enjoy it and I get to ride there whenever I have free time.  There are a couple of  things I would warn you about if you get a storage unit and bring your bike. 1: School comes first, tone your riding down, I have been broken twice now since in school and it really takes a toll on the GPA, it is hard to get up when you are in pain and get to class.  2:  Find a secure storage area, one in a good area with a fence, double lock your units door with shrouded locks, get a long locking cable from harbor freight put it through your frame and both wheels as well as through some heavy stuff like cinder blocks, semi rims anything with weight that is awkward.  Just make it difficult to take.  3: Get insurance on your bike for theft, mine costs under 100 a year.  Not that it is likely to get stolen but you will not be there to check on it everyday so play it sale.

I have a buddy who absolutely could not take his bike.  He bought a good DSLR camera and goes around to the races every weekend and takes pictures of everybody and posts them up online.  They are free to everyone and everyone around the tracks knows him, loves him and he always gets in for free.  He is very plugged in.

I hope this helps good luck at school.

Non-Moto / Nitro Circus Movie?!?!?
« on: July 26, 2012, 04:21:02 PM »
So what if someone who works for Godfrey put a Nitro Circus trailer on 2Tmx?  I for one loved that show when it was on TV!  I seriously do not get what the big deal is?  Folks around here are getting a little touchy if posting a trailer for a movie that got its roots from moto.  What is the difference if they posted it or on of us posted it?

General Two Stroke Talk / Breaking Maico News........
« on: July 26, 2012, 04:02:15 PM »
After searching the web for about 45 minutes (all the time I have to put to the effort)  Here are the only 3 Maico videos I found to be worth watching (that were not already posted).  I'm not a Maico guy, I have never rode one, never seen one in person, all I have to go off of is what my father tells me about them.  Does anyone have any others worth the watch?
