Check out this article from the Dirt Rider website, great to hear!!  Russell Bobbitt has always ridden 2-strokes, but it is great to see other riders switching back and improving their results.  Shows what we have all been saying......

Non-Moto / Parts for old Suzuki TS185?
« on: June 14, 2011, 08:44:06 AM »
I just picked up a thrashed 1980 Suzuki TS185 for next to nothing, but it will need a lot of work to get it street legal.  I just want it to ride to work, and a few easy trails to explore new hunting areas.  Does anyone have a recommended source for parts?  It seems like a lot of stuff for this bike has been discontinued by Suzuki.....

Open Forum / Total Knee Replacement
« on: May 25, 2011, 06:19:48 AM »
Has anyone here had a total knee replacement and continue riding?  I just went to one of the best orthopedic doctors in the northeast, and it looks like I only have about 5 years left on my right knee before I will need a total replacement due to osteoarthritis.  I am having a scope done on it in a month to fix a torn meniscus, but it looks like there is not a lot of meniscus left.  I'm only 44 which is young for a TKR, but I don't want to give up things like running and riding.  Anyone with any experience?  Thanks, Russ

General Two Stroke Talk / RacerX 40 day countdown to the Nationals
« on: April 26, 2011, 07:18:47 AM »
I usually don't like RacerX too much because of their obvious anti 2 stroke bias, but they are running a great series of articles right now - writing up each year of the Nationals starting all the way back in 1971.  As of yesterday they are up to '85 but have links back to the start.

Open Forum / Dodge Ram Heater Core Replacement
« on: April 15, 2011, 01:46:56 PM »
Anyone ever replaced a heater core in a Dodge Ram pickup?  Mine is totally gone, big puddle of coolant on my passenger side floor and steam coming out of all the heater & defrost vents.  I can't even drive at night because the windows fog up so badly that I can't see out when there are oncoming headlights.  I have looked it up on-line, some people day it's easy, some say it's a royal bitch.  I do know that I will have to at least partially remove the entire dashboard.  Does not sound fun!!  If anyone has done it and has any tips, I would love to hear them.  BTW, it's a 1999 Ram 1500 Quad Cab with the 5.9.  The truck has almost 200k miles, so I really don't want to spend the $1200 to $1500 that my local shops want to fix it.  Uugh!!

General Two Stroke Talk / Air-Cooled Engine in Modern Frame
« on: January 12, 2011, 01:04:24 PM »
I think someone on this site was talking about this type of build not too long ago, I can't remember who it was.  This looks like a great project to me!!

General Two Stroke Talk / From Dirt Rider Magazine On-Line....
« on: January 12, 2011, 12:55:41 PM »
I just read this from a reader response article to the question "Where will off-road riding be in 10 years?"  Great answer from Scott Harden.

"Ten years down the road, I see a lot of people out recreating on dual-sport bikes in areas where the only way you'll be able to get in is on something street-legal with a license plate on it. And I see us doing it on two-stroke motorcycles! They're cheaper, have better power and are easier to work on. As long as the magazines don't sell us a bill of goods about how four-strokes are the future, we'll be safe. We've got to protect ourselves against the media because they got behind the four-stroke thing and swallowed it hook, line and sinker. Now, we've got bikes we can't afford to ride, parents who can't work on them and who need to send their kids to school to get a Nuclear Science degree just to own and operate the darn dirt bike! There's not one single entity that's more responsible for that than the media." -Scott Harden, National Sales and Marketing Manager, Husqvarna

General Two Stroke Talk / Big Changes in GP MX
« on: August 03, 2010, 06:01:26 AM »
From this article in MXA, it sounds like there is a coup in the process in the FIM's GP MX.  With Red Bull and Monster both possibly supporting competing series and the resurgence of the 2 stroke in Europe, maybe this would be a great time to try to get cc equality.  Anyone know how to start or who to reach out to?

General Two Stroke Talk / Noise at MX Tracks
« on: May 04, 2010, 06:17:49 AM »
I was just checking out the website for a track in southern Maine that I haven't raced for a couple years and saw something funny but sad.  The 4 strokes are so loud at the track that no one could hear the announcer.  Instead of setting a dB limit for the bikes, they bought an FM transmitter and now broadcast over the airwaves, just tune your radio to 93.3 and hear the action.  Of course you will need a 1000 watt amp with 10 speakers and subwoofers to hear it!!!

I don't check out the Cycle News website very often, but did today, and found a link to the article on the possible 2011 YZ125 from our very own Two Stroke Motocross website - pretty cool!!  There are also some positive comments at the end from a few people.

General Two Stroke Talk / dirt-bike-tips-and-pics.com
« on: April 28, 2010, 01:04:13 PM »
I found this site earlier today and wasted about an hour bashing nit-wit, know-it-all punks saying that 4 strokes are better than 2 strokes.  The original article is pretty good, but some of the comments are ridiculous!!  There does seem to be way more in favor of the 2 than the 4.  If you want your head to explode, read some of these comments by a bunch of brain-washed (brain-dead?) 15 year olds!!

General Two Stroke Talk / Service Honda 500AF vs. CRF450
« on: April 14, 2010, 12:51:54 PM »
I was poking around today and found this article - still decent even with my Honda Hater mentality lately...  I just wish they let the testers have a few days to learn how to ride a 2-stroke again before comparing lap times!!  That 500AF sure does look sweet....
